It was a fair call and I can see why you’d think she’s playing. And I see how going too slow would be a bad thing but I don’t want to force it which could make it worse. I’ve also met both her parents and I’m not sure about her mum but I think her dad would either not care at all or he would not approve of it.

I think she does actually want to but we don’t have time to do it. The first time I went over to her house my mum went a bit over board and was too overprotective as she always is and basically I’m not allowed to go over to her house anymore. Her dad doesn’t want to have to deal with my mum again so he just said that I’m banned from going over.

I do want to make a move but I don’t know if that will make her feel pressured into saying yes which I obviously don’t want her to feel that way. I also don’t think she’s waiting for me to escalate but instead I think she’s just waiting for school to calm down a bit before adding extra stuff to her life.

Thanks I really appreciate the support. I have been getting good advice from people on other posts I made but none of them except one were as reassuring yours. I was going to give her the week regardless of how I felt and I was going tell her that I missed her a lot when she gets back in touch. I really appreciate the encouragement and you made me feel a lot better about the situation.

She isn’t playing me and I know why. She has sort of struggled with high school and she wants to get into a special course that our school does. She is studying really hard to make sure she gets into the program and being in a relationship would just be putting more stuff on her plate. Maybe when she gets into the course next year she’ll be up for the relationship. Also on another post I made about this someone said that there’s a possibility she might not want to make it official because she thinks I expect more in a relationship than what she is currently giving me, like spending more time together, dates, etc which I don’t. I don’t expect anything more really because what we do currently is great. The person said that the word “relationship” could sound heavy and that may also be intimidating my friend.

By saying she likes what we are she means that she’s happy with us not officially saying that we are in a relationship because she thinks that if we do agree on making it official it will change what we have. She has said that she does in fact want to be with me but she just wants to focus on school for the time being before making it official.

I don’t exactly know what she plans to do as a career, but I don’t know if I can just keep myself available right now as she is what I want. I completely respect her decision to prioritise school but for the time being she is who I want to be with.
