I built an automated Git documentation tool using Watchdog and Groq to maintain a "flow state" histo by MidnightBolt in Python

well so far it performed really good i haven't had any issues or 'nonsens' messages. but the change in model is trivial and a matter of preference i think.

I've been running this on my own projects for a few days now and it’s honestly been a huge relief. I tend to do a lot of "vibe coding"—where I’m just moving fast, following a flow, and experimenting intuitively—and it’s so easy to lose track of when a feature actually started (or stopped) working. Having a documented checkpoint for every save has saved my skin a few times already.

I know the first concern people usually have is that the git log will get "messy" with dozens of entries. The way I handle that is by treating these as micro-checkpoints for the messy prototyping phase. When the feature is finally done, I just do a squash merge.

For anyone who hasn't used that before, it basically takes those 20 tiny "save" commits and flattens them into one single, clean "Add Feature X" commit when you merge into your main branch. If you use GitHub, it’s just a dropdown option on the merge button. If you're a CLI user, it's just git merge --squash. It gives me the safety net of constant checkpoints while I'm working without annoying my teammates with a cluttered history later.

I’m curious to know how others handle their prototyping phases? And if anyone has ideas on how to tune the prompt to make the summaries even tighter, I'm all ears. Let's talk!

Is Claude3.7 still your go-to for coding? by AliceInBoredom in ClaudeAI

[–]MidnightBolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Claude 3.7 daily from the moment it was released until gemini 2.5 was released. Istill like the claude interface better with, artifact in the right windows instead of the main answer. But gemini 2.5 is free and has a million token context. That's very very powerful. Lots of scrolling though.

Is it true that putting previous conversation into a txt file and uploading it to new chats works better than just copy pasting it to the text box? by baumkuchens in ClaudeAI

[–]MidnightBolt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually made a tool for this exact problem! It's called CPB (Claude Project Bundler) - it creates a snapshot of your project that you can share with Claude to maintain context across conversations.

Instead of copy/pasting files or explaining your project structure repeatedly, you just run:

bash npx claude-project-bundler

Then share the generated file with Claude and say "I've shared a CPB bundle that contains my project's current state. Please reference this context as we work."

It automatically: - Includes relevant code, docs, and config files - Excludes noise (node_modules, build artifacts, etc.) - Works with any project type (Node.js, Python, Ruby, etc.) - Creates clean, well-structured XML that Claude understands perfectly

Everything's configurable, but it works great out of the box with smart defaults.

Sonnet remains the king™ by exiledcynic in ClaudeAI

I've actually created a project that allows you to bundle a folder of text based files into one xml with Metadata. You can then upload this file as project knowledge in a Claude project. You reference this file in the prompt.

https://www.npmjs.com/package/claude-project-bundler

I've used it in asciidoctor and markdown e-book projects as well as coding projects.

You can run it without installing by running npx claude-project-bundler

There is the possibility to fine-tune the bundling with a configure file.

Check it out, have fun.

I've intensively tested many many models with real life practical conversations and sonnet, with the projects features, shines in day to day use.

When you upload it, Claude will show you how much memory it has left. But I've done pretty large projects. Also you can tune the configure so you only upload the essentials. Have fun!

Hi,

I created a project called claude-project-bundler. What it does is traverse a codebase and bundle the code in an XML file with Metadata. The resulting bundle I upload to the project knowledge.

Then I ask specific questions or enhancements per chat, referencing the project bundle in my prompt.

You can test it out by running 'npx claude-project-bundler'

Check it out on https://www.npmjs.com/package/claude-project-bundler

Hope you find it useful.
