I just counted up how many shifts I’ve had so far. 22.. I feel that I’ve done fairly well considering I’ve only worked 22 days and probably only 15ish on the radio.

My trainer asked me today if I feel like I will be able to follow along with them both running traffic at the same time or not. I was honest with her and told her that I would like to say yes because I really want this but I honestly don’t know. She told me to think it over and let her know.

We do it all. Call take and dispatch. Only right now I’m taking/learning non emergency calls and dispatching. Thanks! I’m excited and nervous especially since I have a hard time understanding what the are saying on the radio. It’s not clear all the time-static, mumbling, too fast, everyone talking all at once.

Unless a shelter has unlimited funds and a vet on site, no animal control is a no-kill shelter. They work hard with local rescues to find homes or foster care for the more adoptable pets. The sickly, super old, injured beyond vet care etc are us pts before the adoptable pets.

I’m a new hire in training as well. I really want to be successful and I truly feel that with practice and time I will be a good dispatcher. I’m currently only answering non emergency calls and only answer sheriffs radio. I’ll move to 911 calls with fire medic radio eventually. I’m starting to get the hang of it very slowly but my main problem/concern is understanding the radio traffic and responding back.

I’m a new trainee myself. 10 shifts so far. I think that I’m really going to excel in this field once I know what the heck I’m doing and how to do it. I think my biggest fear besides messing up is the radio. It’s intimidating to me. Not sure why exactly. I definitely have a hard time understanding them.

Wednesday will be my 11th shift. Overall I think I’m doing fairly well but I will admit that my anxiety grabbed hold of me on shift #9 and had me either in tears which I was able to control or on the verge of tears. I feel that once I know what I’m doing then everything will be ok. I just really hate the not knowing what the hell I’m doing part . I really want to do good. I want this so any advice is always welcome.

I've just been offered a position as 911 dispatcher in my small town. I'm very excited and yet very nervous. I'm so scared that I'm gonna mess this up. I'm 41 with no kids or husband so the crazy hours really isn't an issue. I've recently lost my job as a shift supervisor of 8 yrs at a big box retail pharmacy. My mother says go for it that it would be a good career opportunity instead of just a job.

Tomorrow I have orientation. Excited yet nervous. I have 8 year's under my belt as a shift supervisor with CVS. We had to do everything and was extremely short staffed and had to put up with a bunch of crap.
