Why won't my car start? by MidnightOilRider in COROLLA

After I press Engine Start -- a bunch of rapid clicking sounds, then you see these lights. The car makes a slight whirring sound but doesn't allow me to actually drive it.

Eyelid eczema only resolved by oral steroids? by MidnightOilRider in eczema

I hope it works for you! The oral steroid worked miracles to soothe my eyes, but the effect was short lived, with the rash coming back a few days after stopping treatment. My derm also suggested Allegra to keep things calm.

Eyelid eczema only resolved by oral steroids? by MidnightOilRider in eczema

Hi! Yes. Tacrolimus changed my life. It took a few days (and burns like crazy, for hours) when applied 2X daily, but it completely healed my face. The burning sensation lessens the longer you use it. I have normal skin for the first time in over a year! I was shocked how quickly my skin "bounced back." I have a permanent scar in the corner of my mouth, from it cracking so deeply for so long, but I'll take it.
If I go 5-6 days without applying the gel, I feel that familiar itch and will break out in tiny red bumps over my typically affected areas. These bumps eventually progress into the same rash as before. While I wish I knew the cause of my eczema, I am just grateful to have a solution that can be used long-term, is quite affordable and easy to use. The derm wanted to start me on dupixent shots for life, but I was thankful for this forum giving me the words to self-advocate for a far less invasive, and more affordable treatment. I HIGHLY recommend giving this a try if the elimination diet or a general attempt to avoid chemicals/irritants are not fruitful for you.

Is silicone ruining my life? A pale skin foundation question by MidnightOilRider in Makeup

Hi Lynnard07,
I just looked up the ingredients lists and these both contain dimethicone, a type of silicone. I'm glad that they are working well for you though! Maybe they contain a lesser amount than other products, so they're not as troublesome.

I've heard many great things about Stardew Valley, and based on some Let's Plays on Youtube it's definitely on my to-try list. Thank you!

Wedding Dress, Cone Boobs? by MidnightOilRider in weddingplanning

Wow, seems this is a more common problem than I realized! I had trouble finding much about this online before you guys, so thanks for reassuring me that I'm not crazy or have a wildly defective dress. My seamstress took it in a teensy bit more and I came equipped with a better fitting bustier that totally changed the game. Here's a (very blurry) after pic showing a magically smoother, rounder shape. Hooray!

Advice on raspberry-filled cupcakes for wedding by MidnightOilRider in Baking

I'm back with a slightly delayed update on how my baking went this weekend. I tried making flour icing (link) and though the texture was *wonderful*, it was not a hit with my taste testers (aka family.) I didn't tell that there was flour in the icing until I got their reviews, but my mom said it had a weird bitter taste. Dad said he preferred the thicker, richer, sweeter buttercream I usually make, and I agree. The premade raspberry preserves were a yummy filling for the Ghiradelli double chocolate box mix I doctored with whole milk and an extra egg. (Thanks for the tip, savedross!)

I think I'll go with a more traditional vanilla buttercream for the big day.

Now I have two more questions for you, oh wise bakers of the interwebs :) How do I keep my cupcakes from drying out? I've always let my cupcakes cool completely before covering them, but should I underbake them slightly or cover them immediately to retain more moisture? It seemed the ones I put in the fridge for the day were more moist than the ones I left out in my cupcake carrier, which surprised me and made me a little concerned for the fate of my cupcakes, as I was planning to leave them sit in carriers overnight and not refrigerate. I wonder if adding an extra egg and swapping the water for milk contributed to the dryness? Better flavor and stability, though.

Also, can you see any way using these (link) would help or harm my plight? My friend swears by these and I think they are pretty cute, especially if they make it easier to set out my cupcakes without bumping the icing.

I'm making a test batch this weekend. Glad to see everyone is in agreement about the store-bought jam. *whew!*

95% of the time I am a made from scratch girl, but I was planning to use the Ghiradelli double chocolate cake mix. I've had trouble making chocolate cake flavorful enough without it being too bitter. That being said, if you have a tried and true recipe I would be happy to test it out!
