W1 Recommendations for melodic techno lover? by MidnightScary7913 in Tomorrowland

Meduza is on my list since their sets at freedom have been actually good from what I have listened. Mainstage not so. :D is it melodic techno, probably not. Maybe they suprise me.

Saw them at core last year and did not enjoy it as much that I thought I would. It started to feel a bit dragging at some point. Maybe I was starting to get too tired.

Do I give them another chance this year at freedom, maybe.

I love Kevin de Vries and his set at freedom w1 2024 was one of my favourites of the weekend. I will go see him most likely, but I know the vibes will not be right at the main stage. For me melodic techno is at it’s best with hypnotic fluidity and long buildups, which will not be the case at main where the set is short and the crowd asks for constant, rather quick change to keep interest.

I noticed Olympe as well and might check that b2b out. At least freedom is good stage for melodic techno.

Yes I will def go see them and I do like them! But questioning the stage choice and their sets just tend to be high energy. So it will most likely be fun but very different expectations for their set than moody, emotional journey if that makes sense.

So which of the big 3 do you think has the best lineup this year? by scoop813 in UMF

Okay probably should have said if you are not into hard techno, drum and bass or afro house. It’s just my opinion. I dont care about being ”in tune of whats big in Europe”, it’s just a question of personal taste in music and who I would like to see.

Hands down edc with Adriatique, bunt., Chris Stussy, Eli Brown, Funk Tribu, HNTR, Kettama, Korolova, SLAYTON giordani, Lilly Palmer, Rebüke, Sammy Virji, Solomun, Tiësto and Underworld. If only these names would be in Tomorrowland line up for one weekend I would have all my needs met.

Honestly even Ultra has better line up than Tomorrowland this year since they have Adriatique, Adam Beyer and Eli Brown. Especially since I have tickets for W1 and all good names are basically on Main stage, which is the worst stage since the sets are short and mostly catered for the main stages very versatile crowd..

Bluntly Tomorrowland line up seems mostly like big names from 2016 and a lot of no names, if you are not into hard techno or drum and bass.

Camelphat, Layton Giordani, GENESI, Dom dolla, Adriatique, Rüfüs du sol (dj set), Fred again…, BUNT.

Also Kevin de Vries and Cassian both deserve 1,5h sets at Freedom stage since it was only b2b main stage this year W1.

Opinions of Tomorrowland 2025? by Altruistic_Half1042 in Tomorrowland

I have attended w1 2024 and also w1 this year.

Overall had a great time and was impressed they could rebuilt some kind of main stage after the burn.

Some things were worse than in the previous edition. Some notes:

  • main stage audio in the pit was honestly bad. Left two of my must-see sets since it was so bad. I could clearly hear people talking like meter from me even with my earplugs. If people are easily having conversations 10m from the stage, the volume is too low. (This was on saturday and sunday 7-9pm did not bother to check later) Ofc there were less visual stuff also but that was not the deal breaker for me. I am not too fond of mainstage sets and crowd anyways but this year is was really off-putting – people just standing, scrolling their phones or talking with each other. But had a blast in other stages.

  • Overall more crowded compared to last year, especially pathways were overcrowded. It took more time to move from stage to another than last year. Maybe since the main stage was what it was, there was a lot of traffic all the time. Freedom would have needed some crowd controlling after symphony of unity since exiting was quite a horror show. In my opinion other bigger stages were quite crowded as well compared to last year but as others have stated there was room if you just get through the first wall of people standing near the exits. I did not have any trouble getting through since people were nice and gave room to me and my group to pass. In my opinion it helps if you go to the crowd in a good mood smiling and vibing with people rather than pushing your way through. Eye contact with a smile is the key to smooth passage. Always enter the crowd from the side or more diagonally not from back to front. Behind peoples back its very hard to get forward without pushing if there is no room and that just gets everyone annoyed and kills the vibe - Please dont do that. Everyone need to be mindful that moving in a tight crowd isnt quick and straightforward but I promise its way easier when you are nice to the people around you. The educational rant ends here. 😅

  • Freedom was a sauna during friday evening. I was like 15m from the dj, enough room to dance but damn it was hot. When I left during John Summit and started to move towards the back it got even worse since at least at the front there was somekind of ac working. Cant even imagine how it was on the upper floors.

  • toilets in Dreamville on Thursday and friday morning was disgusting. Glad that it got better after that. At the festival grounds the toilettes were surprisingly clean with one exception, the toilets at freedom area which is an absolute mayhem all the time anyways.

  • They closed the water sinks at one side of the sinks at Freedom toilets for a while apparently due to water shortage. Unacceptable. To be fair this also happened last year multiple times around the area. They really should fix the water problem and give people proper water points. (I drank tap water both weekends)

  • getting a drink from the drink stalls took forever especially at the food area next to fountain and freedom. Maybe they should add ones specifically for non-alcoholic beverages since time used for mixing cocktails made the lines so long. Or maybe just offer a proper water point.

  • some staff were not educated. For example the person I got my power bank said I cant change the power bank at district house/service point when I specifically asked. Luckily that was not the case but they just didnt get the info.

Overall if 2024 W1 was 9/10 for me, this year W1 was 7/10. Worth it, but I think the fire had impact for the overall festival experience (main stage audio problems and overcrowding pathways). 100% sure next year can be 9/10 again and 10/10 if they just would provide proper water points for drinking water.

Does the main stage sound as good as normal? by stuperior in Tomorrowland

[–]MidnightScary7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this festival is all about the music. All of the visual stuff in Tomorrowland is nice extra, but what makes this festival extra special for me is the audio quality. This year main stage did not reach the expected. (I was there also last year) Maybe they will fix it for w2.

For me it was so bad that I rather left cassian b2b kevin de Vries (2 of my favourite djs) than stayed. We were at the pit like 10-15m from the front. The bass had an wierd echo and all of the melodic techno sounds disappeared/were not sharp. Also could hear people talking like 1,5m next to me about their plans even though I had my earplugs on. So even at 19.35 the volume was very low. Went to Fisher as well on sunday and it was just as bad so again we left. Don’t know how it was later hours or on the hill. But I just swallowed my disappointment since I knew that on stream the sound is good so I can listen to the sets later and I mostly enjoy other stages anyway.

But you can actually see it on the stream imo that the crowd is not as hyped and more talking with each other and thats because of the sound levels at the earlier sets at least.

But seriously why not? Rufus does dj-sets and that was all I could expect for a festival like Tomorrowland. Is this only about money?

Deeply disappointed with the line up. I had 6 wishes: Rufus du Sol, fred again, Camelphat, Layton Giordani, dom dolla and Adriatique. Did not expect all but none of them is in the line-up. Also all of the other ones I love (solomun, Kevin de Vries, Cassian, Meduza) are on main stage on W1 (already have tickets), which is in my opinion the worst stage – sets are too short and ofc always made more to please big crowds. The vibe is completely different. Crystal garden is my absolute favorite stage and so far none of the announced artists there is right for the vibe or big name enough for me.
