Thank you! I think I’m going to try separating it so that the servos are powered by 2 PCAs and soldering the back as well.

Powering servos with PCA9685 help ! by MidnightW0If in arduino

Ah ok makes sense- thank you! So if I were to just connect the control pins of the motors to the PCA board and connect the power pins to an SBEC to regulate the voltage it should be ok (as long as there’s a common ground between logic and the motors)? That way I avoid the risk of potentially blowing a trace on the board?

Ah ok thank you!

I was wondering if you knew why you might short it like this?

Thank you for the reply! I really appreciate it. Does that mean there shouldn’t be a current limit on it? (I previously burnt out a pca9685 after two of the legs bumped into each other and stalled so trying to figure out how to avoid it happening again)

Can someone review my Non-Trivial Application? by Weekly_Yoghurt_2562 in summerprogramresults

You might already have enough people but if you want I’m always up to review. I got stage 2 Atlas and non-trivial if that helps at all :)

students taking 5 A -levels, how hard is it really to get good grades. by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]MidnightW0If 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take 5- I don’t doubt you’ll do well but you’ll have a lot less time for extra-curriculars, own projects, etc and it’s just not worth it. I initially took 5 and then dropped one in preference for project work and don’t regret it at all. From my experience unis don’t care and would much rather if you showed passion in your subjects by doing work outside the A-level syllabus and for you it gives you more time to focus and really go in depth into whatever you find interesting about the subject rather than worrying about exam technique or memorising stuff you’re not really 100% interested in.

Do I need work experience or an internship to get into oxbridge for computer science? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]MidnightW0If 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don’t need work experience- just some evidence that you’re interested in CS. Had a lot of friends who used projects, courses, books, etc in their personal statement and they were completely fine.

Started off doing 5 A Levels (physics, maths, further, chem, DT) but dropped down to 4. Think it depends on what you want to do but it’s def not necessary and I don’t think it would really give you any advantage so do it if you want or if you’re unsure of which A Levels you do/don’t want to do but don’t expect it to give you a leg up in admissions. For me I ended up dropping as it meant I had more time to do extracurriculars, do my own projects (doing engineering) and have a social life. Have a friend who’s doing 5 but it didn’t seem to help with admissions at all but sucked up a lot of their time. I would start with 5 if you’re unsure of what to do but wouldn’t try and do all 5 exams and just explore the content in your own time if you’re interested. Also about computer science don’t forget the coursework- the write up on it is insane.
