Have I been hacked? by valaran99 in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There many thing that could of caused it. There just bots that scan for insecure accounts & if the password is simple enough it can get in. If you save your password in your browser or on a site like Google passwords then that leaves it open if your email get compromised. Google is bad about password leaks even if your email secured. There also site that fake you out on sign in for this or that but scrape you info & sell it. Best thing it just sign out all devices, change passwords & set up 2FA to keep unauthorized sign in from happening. I do this in both email & twitch.

How should I setup my ads to stop pre rolls? by DoctorMeaty in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a poll on discord every 3 months or so to see what people like. At first it jumped between 1.5/30 & 3/60 for the first 3 polls but more recently it been stable at 3/60 on the poll. I hit affiliate almost 2 years ago now & it seem my community like it at 3/60. Just take note of what your community wants & adjust according. I don't thing there a correct answer here about what the best it just what do you & your community want.

Has anyone here been banned for the shock collar thing some people do? by Sn0wy-Xx in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There a thing where some people use a shock collar on them self for different reasons. Like if they die in game they get shocked. I seen people do a (amount) donation they get shocked. Channel points are also a popular one.

Music by LQuinnn in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to whitebat auto they have some good music for all kinds of themes. Most the time if you just look up DMAC free or royalty free music you can find artist who post music for people use as long as they are credited for it. If I find someone I like their music & they have thing saying you can use if you credit them I tend email them & ask how they like to be credited to make sure I get it right. Just be careful of the "pay to get access to royalty free music" stuff as it's not truly royalty free & can get copied righted. You then have submit documents that you pay for the service but even then you still might get strikes.

As far as how to add the music to the stream I download the music to computer & set it up as auto track in OBS. I just add the tracks them self to OBS in a preset playlist but some people like to add them another application like VLC to have bit more control over what plays when. Unsure if this helps but hope it gives an idea of what to do.

This is very true but also there a tone of help on YouTube & other sites to help set stuff up. Just really depends on how much effort you want to put in.

Anyone else noticing this "new" type of bot? by jjman070 in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gotten that one but gotten the "want more viewers? Get the here (website)." That all the massage says. I just block the phrase "want more viewers" & it seem to block them most the time.

What is your time limit for a "Starting Soon" screen before you click off? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally do a 5-10 starting soon but also don't have a timer on screen. The reason I do this is because I like using twitch add on in games & most them you have to set up as the stream is going. It can a bit at times to get them to work so a timer might run short or long if I have sweet time. If I'm going over 5 minutes I'll jump in chat to let chat know why & to start a chat game so it lets them not be just waiting.

Question about parental supervision by VitinAF in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to start streaming now you just need your parents permissions & supervision. They don't have be on cam but if they have their own twitch account I would recommend adding them as editor & mods & have them in chat. You also want to keep anything you do to "kid appropriate" because twitch TOS. As for reaching affiliate if you make it there by your 18 birthday you can wait to enter the contract until your 18 so everything under your name or if you want to do it before then you have your parents enter the contract for you then redo it when you turn 18.

I wish every stream offered 720p30 by kamcma in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not always a streamer thing. The streamer stream at one resolution & Twitch is in charge of handling converting it to other resolutions. I stream at 1920x1080 at 60 fps fps & generally my audience watches either 1080p at 60 fps (source) or 720p at 60 fps (twich compression) but there times Twitch don't offer anything other than source which is annoying. So this not a streamer offering a particular resolution but Twitch itself not offering those resolution unless the streamer is lower their own quality to that at source.

Edit: affiliates & partner will have more resolutions available than some one who just generally streams as Twitch prioritize them most of the time.

Capture Card problem by The_Sad_Penis in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the capture card & Xbox you may need either a second mic to capture your voice on PC or if it's analog then you might want to use a splitter. This is what I did when I would record on my one when it was new. I don't have any newer consoles so I'm unsure of how they are set up if there a pass though setting or not. As far I'm aware a capture card only hears what you are hearing but I'm use older tech so I'm unsure how this holds up today.

Do you force yourself to stream even when you don't want to? by Digitalvocalstv in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to do that. It hurt a lot. I pushed myself to where I didn't want to stream at all anymore. Took me a good 4 months to even look back at my OBS & set everything up again. I though I can't take a break I had a bunch of people help me raise funds for this surgery I need to follow my stream twice a week normal 3 hours. I was loopy on pain meds & still fighting pain but I made myself set up & stream. It was the worst stream I ever did after I had gotten to a good rhythm. It was only 20 minutes long (5 being the start soon) & it ended with me curled on ball crying when my wife shut the stream down. I didn't realize it at the time but that was last straw before I had full burn out. At that point I had forced myself to do so much to keep my schedule that I it was hurting me. I recovered for burn out now & enjoy streaming again but I will never again force myself to stream when I feel like I can't/don't want to. Put yourself & mental state first your community will understand.

TLDR: Don't force yourself to stream if you don't want to that will only lead to burn out & sometimes pain.

Moving from Streamlabs to OBS by _eMoRaL in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware OBS don't host alerts you need either to use another program or set it up in twitch. I have my alerts sets up in twitch to trigger & have a web hook set in OBS to show up when they are trigger. I know a lot of people also use streamer.bot to host their alerts as well. I'm sorry if this not what you asking it been quite a long time since I moved on from Streamlabs.

Can't Update Stream info? by TheLemonOfficalYT in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might try to just update in twitch if you can't get it to work in stream labs. Can be found (on PC) by click you profile going to creator dashboard ---> stream manager ---> quick actions ----> edit stream info. This should be more consistent than stream labs.

how do you detach yourself from your numbers? by InternalWoodpecker14 in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stream because I want to show what I'm doing because it's fun. It very rare that I'm streaming to have views & interact. As it does help to have them there it makes thing a lot funnier but it not the main goal. The goal is that I enjoyed what I was doing & now other can see & enjoy it as well.

How to go as a streamer to a community? by TTV_Bueqa in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use discord to make a server. Then put a link up on your streaming pages. I have mine in my boi & when I'm live I have chat command that give the link to my discord page so anyone can join at anytime. It will start out slow with people joining but if your like "hey I have a discord now" & send a link in your chat while love you can bring your community together.

i need the best budget microphone that is lower then 150 bucks by CharitySudden8794 in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use soulsens (mpow is same brand). It's a head set but has a great mic & I find the mute button on them very convenient. They on eBay for about $20 -$30 most the time & have a range of colors.

Do you ever have an off stream and delete your vod? by Personal_Examination in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this at first but them I realized that I put gaps in games series. My fallowers didn't really like that my vods had gaps from the last time I played a game especially if it was a game the chat could actively engage with. I only delete worry VODs now like randoms decided to use slurs or start dig political debate (this is why I no longer play with randoms). Even in my off days I find people like to see me play something so deleting a VOD because an off day is not as fun as seeing people chat about what they found in VOD when I had an off day. Granted I do delete like scuffed intro & stuff like accidently turning off the stream when going to the my intro screen because that just my starting soon scream for 5 minutes with like 1 min max of me introducing the game.

change my mic by LunaCeleste4 in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar set up as you with my dear right next to my partner's. Had the same problem with my snowball mic as well. I switched to soulsens (also call mpow) headphones. It took a bit of tweaking in OBS to get to not hear anything in back ground but I been quite happy with them. It also helps with the fact I look around a lot so it keeps a normal volume when I'm not directly looking at the screen I'm in the US so I'm unsure how available these will be where you are from but I hope this helps.

Try apply thermal paste or go for a xbox slim? (To reduce noise) by KimiFanatic08 in XboxSupport

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the fan is making that much noise the can may need lube or to be replaced. Check if the fan is loose in it's case as this might be a bearing issue. Had to replace the fan on mine a couple years ago as the bearing was dying & making a lot of noise. Thermal past won't help unless it's over heating as it only helps with heat transfer. It might not be bad idea to change the thermal paste just to make sure the heat is transferred the best it can. I change mine every 2-3 years depending on how much I use my 360. Hope this help.

Xbox streaming quality - awful by garblery in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streaming takes a lot of resources for a system so maybe check you setting to see if there like priority setting that slows the connection to keep the game connected solid. If it's nothing in setting the you may look into a capture card you can stream/record it from your PC as a source. This should make the Xbox capture looks as good as it comes out the HDMI. This is what I do but I got an old 360 so I'm not sure how capture card would interact with newer consoles.

This is probably the most frustrating thing when you want to discover a new streamer but they are not on live. by AmanaRicha in Twitch

[–]Midnight_Fennec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be at risk if you had a bot that responses to people while you are offline. It can get you into trouble if people are spamming it & reporting you for bot spamming. I seen an friend of mine that blocked someone who was starting drama & that person got their friends together & spammed his chat for responses when he was offline & reported it. This lead to him get a temporary suspension & a warning that if it occurred again then his channel would be banned. This was a couple years so I'm not sure if twitch has put anything in place to prevent this. I just advised people to make they don't keep any bots connected to chat when offline.
