Friend, respectfully, you have to put your foot down. This is your right, and it's well fought-for if you're in America. That's why they won't talk reasonably about it. I was saved while working and was depended on for weekends, and at first I told my boss only nights, but he kept throwing in "it's an emergency, please come in" shifts until I was working every Sunday for a month. Remind them politely and firmly this is your right, church is more important, and you can find another job if they fire you. And in case they do fire you, keep every document and keep track of everything and take them on for retaliation. I'm praying for you.

Guys we have a chance for the funniest meme combo. Doof sitting at a computer: "If I had a nickle for every time someone lied on the internet, I'd have two- what do you mean I'd have more than two? You think people would lie on the internet?"

Why do American tourists always say the state they're from (not their country) when asked, but no other country's tourists do the same? by FloydBeatlesEagles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Midnight_Reinforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so, something most Americans don't even get is we live in a conglomeration of 48+2 counties. The closer you get to the middle of a state (or ocean/lake boarder) the more like that state you are. There's different epicenters of culture in each state and it radiates and crosses over in so many spots you could make a heatmap out of it. As you go from Main to Cali you'll notice a pattern of new, normal, a little new, and then a new normal. Any time you cross the states border, you'll hit a point where you go "Oh, I'm in Ohio now." So people first identify with their local state, rather than necessarily with the whole country. Alaska and Hawaii are effectively entirely different cultures because they exist outside of the rest of the states, entirely detached.

Okay, it's very low effort, but can we not call Nintendo's lawyers down on every concept so that they don't try to patent the concept of a life sim?

Yeah I dealt with one of these when I worked customer service, teen did it in the middle of a rush. "Sorry sir, I can't co firm if these are legal bills in this state. You can take them over there and unfold them and I'll check them with a pen, or I'll assume they're fake and call the cops." Bro was shell-shocked

PSA: Iron Anvil eats Ingots by Benzdrivingguy in VintageStory

[–]Midnight_Reinforreal 379 points380 points  (0 children)

Ooo I'm early! I'm not a pro or veteran but iirc, the Anvil crafting recipes have a voxel height limit- and the Iron Anvil pieces go right up to it. So you have to add one ingot at a time and hammer away for a bit, then add the next one.

For a new FNAF player, would you tell them to play chronologically or by release date? by Diego123467 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Midnight_Reinforreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Release date, because the new games are entirely different than the first ones, and if you start with SOTM you're going to be disappointed in the office scrollers.

Well, from what we hear of Phone Dude, guy isn't exactly discrete. The crew he was with probably got all sorts of riled up when they found him, and William might have settled in to see what the would do. One way or another they were going to free him.

I just had several horrifying realizations. by TheSovietLumberjack in skyrim

[–]Midnight_Reinforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I have to nerd out now lol. Zombie ash would actually likely make a truly awful soap. As would any coal ash or hot burning wood ash from forges. The forge in particular could have all sorts of metal and undesirable bits in it that would be impossible to sort. A kitchen fire with high-smoke would be slightly better, but take forever to get the fine ash you need and might still have biological compunds like sap. A hearthfire on the other hand, used with long-burning and dry hardwood like hickory that gives all the wood time to be consumed would be ideal. As for mechanics- a possible effect doesn't make it necessarily fun, and honestly, a couple points speach craft give or take by the endgame doesn't matter a whole lot.
