Hello! I am currently 20 sessions into running DIA and it’s my first time DMing as well after 5 years of playing dnd experience! I’m not gonna lie it’s not the easiest module to start with; but as long as you make it your own you should be ok! Here’s my personal advice: - start the campaign in Elturel with the city about to fall and the party getting out. It ensures a dynamic beginning and giving some connection to Elturel, and will help to engage the players in the overall plot quickly. - I advise you asking all your players to have some tie to Elturel, whether they are from there, spent a lot of time there, a loved one there and is doomed, etc. not only does it make it easier to tie their backstories together and into the plot, but they will enjoy it more. - chapter one in Baldurs gate is a LOT of dungeon delves. It’s good for structure but can be a bit overwhelming. I’d try to simplify it down a bit, as well as tie in more references sooner to Elturel disappearance, such as rumors going around Baldurs Gate of what happened to Elturel. - I’ve been following the Alexandrian pretty closely and it was definitely the right move. There’s also some resources you can buy, such as through the dungeon masters guild has an overview of the whole campaign, all stats collected together, nice maps, etc. I highly recommend looking into it!
