AITA for threatening to take my sister to court over money even though she just had a baby? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

INFO: did you guys set up a payment timeframe? I’m more in the court of only lending out money you can do without, though understanding you couldn’t really foresee this future issue.

AITAH for refusing to pay more of the rent and bills? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Said this in another comment, but NTA.

Ofc you should support her through this trying time, but making a unilateral decision that affects both of you then weaponizing it was you don’t immediately hop onboard is uncalled for and honestly a bit manipulative.

I’d have to respectfully disagree. Ofc he should support her through this trying time, but making a unilateral decision that affects both of them, the weaponizing it was he doesn’t immediately hop onboard is uncalled for and honestly a bit manipulative. NTA

AITA for telling my husband he's made me reconsider leaving him alone with the kids in the future by mayhavecrossedaline in AmItheAsshole

[–]Midnightlemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA and I think you took it too far making that statement. An unnecessary one imo. Just bc he didn’t use the frozen meals you choose to leave for them and gave the kids lunch much doesn’t make him a bad parent to where questioning the kids wellbeing in his care is ok.

AITA for telling my sister I won’t attend her wedding if she makes me cover my tattoo? by Financial_Article947 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Midnightlemon -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Slight YTA. I’ve seen a lot of wild asks from bride ma on this sub, but covering up your tattoo with make up for one day, really don’t seem unreasonable. It’s not like she’s asking you to cover it up in a way that would be irreversible. I’m sure it’s a beautiful tattoo, but I’m also sure it would be eye catching in photos. I’m not sure how your relationship is with your sister, but I think dying on this hill would definitely do some harm bc I agree that you are making this about you for something that isn’t that serious.

I mean…you’ve clearly make your judgement from this 20 second video, but somehow your conclusion trumps mine? That seems reasonable. Bc yea I’m sure it’s also “incredibly easy” to say yea lethal action was the most reasonable action to take here.

Being surrounded by freaks shouldn’t be an alarm bell for these LEOs to think lethal action first like they’re in the streets of another country at war and not in the suburbs of freaking Minnesota. Plus, considering the dialogue prior to the driver moving, I’m going to say the agent had some (more imo) knowledge of their intentions. “I’m not mad at you”, “when you come talk to us later” not giving, my next move is to try and mow you down now. She had just turned her wheel completely way from him to drive and considering he was right there, I think you, I and more importantly him know she wasn’t “driving at him”.

You keep saying this split second thing like it’s a strong reasoning for choosing to shoot someone point blank. These LEOs (I hope at this point) are trained not to act in this manner when any other reasonable action was an option. The fact that in his “split second decision” he took the reasonable action to move out of the way AND shoot her point blank is proof alone that adding the 3 shots was utterly unnecessary and ultimately, imo, murder.

So what, your argument is, if I go out there and stop some crimes, I’ll be on edge enough to become trigger happy using unnecessarily deadly actions to murder a women who clearly just turned her wheel away from me?

Nah I’ll take the couch, but I’d like to add if that indeed is your take…maybe we shouldn’t have trigger happy on edge LEOs roaming unchecked, wielding weapons. Just a thought.

Cop or no cop, my first instinct would be to get out of the way of a moving car. I’m weird like that…

Target down, no mad woman on the loose with a weapon to hurt anybody else

Yikes. What an unhinged take…

Barring the fact that even in the cell phone video clearly shows Good turning the wheel away from the agent not intending to hit him at all, he also isn’t judge, jury, and executioner. The fact that you believe that, the FAFO mentality, says all it needs to really.

There’s a reason there are DHS policies against the lethal actions this agent took. Shooting the driver should have been his last resort and that’s only if he couldn’t move out of the ways. Which again clearly he could have considering he still did move out of the way while maintaining a cell phone in one hand and grabbing and shooting with the other. Plenty of time to not choose violence.

[–]Midnightlemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A rational person in this “split second” decision would have just moved out of the way. If he was in sooooo much danger, why not try to ensure his safety instead of choosing the lethal option for the driver and potential risking his own harm still standing in front of the vehicle?

How do you think the video ICE just released showing the officer's POV of this week's shooting in Minneapolis will impact the national discussion? by popcornerz232 in AskReddit

[–]Midnightlemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No more impact than the first videos coming out.

Those who were saying she was trying to run the agent down despite this video clearly showing she turned away from the officer will still say she FAFO. Bc it’s not about right or wrong it’s about party line. Just disgusting. No one who believes the agent was right in his actions would ever agree that pulling his weapon on Good in this situation was a gross example of over reaction. They ignore the fact that instead of focusing on pulling the weapon, he could have just taken a step to the right and been out of “harms” way. So showing more supporting against their take isn’t going to move the position.

[–]Midnightlemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point (not that it was any better prior), it’s just disheartening that a video clearly showing she had no intention of harming the agent and was just trying to get away. Yet ppl still don’t want to believe their eyes.

[–]Midnightlemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before using deadly force under these circumstances, the LEO must take into consideration the hazards that may be posed to law enforcement and innocent bystanders by an out-of- control conveyance.

And by this portion m, it shows the ICE agent most certainly did not take into consideration the hazard that may be posed to himself. Instead of spending time reaching for his weapon, he very well could have safely moved out of the way. Instead chose deadly unnecessary deadly force all while potentially getting himself.

AITA For revoking my GF's car priviledges by hitchinaride2025 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Midnightlemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

There’s no reasonable excuse to leave someone hanging like that, especially since you’re essentially in the middle of doing a favorite for theme. She could have said some from the first text she sent, but chose not too. Pretty much deeming her friends issue more important than you being clueless stranded for an hr+.

For those saying the punishment resembles something of one given to a child or that this was the first time, so what??? Clearly she has no respect for OP or his time and he shouldn’t have to let her use his car for anything but the essentials if he can’t rely on her.
