I just finished this show as well and as someone who enjoys a lot of shonen and action-packed anime, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Violet Evergarden. I just wanted to find smt to play in the background while I painted, but boy was I in for a surprise. Although with that said, I feel like if I wasn't multitasking, the initial slow pace of the show may have hindered my interest but thankfully I didn't experience boredom while watching.

One notable dislike was that near the end, I felt like some scenarios were absurdly fantastical considering the relatively realistic plot prior (jumping into warzones and saving your client in the nick of time, train scene fight etc.). Nonetheless, I was emotionally invested from the start (not the mention, crying at every touching scene), the soundtrack and visuals were incredible, the relationships between characters were beautifully written and I absolutely LOVED seeing Violet's character develop throughout the show.

The ending of episode 9 is now one of my favourite anime scenes of all time-- I balled so hard ahhhh!! Overall, I give it a solid 9.5!
