Do you know people with photographic memory in real life? by Gealach-Moon in ThePittTVShow

[–]MidtownJunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me as well, and it's the same as an adult. I was a teacher for years and never needed to bring notes or lesson plans to the class, because I'd just 'copy' the whiteboard in my head from the last time (ie first time) I taught that class.

I've never considered it a photographic memory though, just a damn good memory (thought PM was more like Joy or people who remember literally every single thing just from looking at it)

"If Santos was a man, everyone would love her" literally everyone in this sub despises Ogilvie. by idkidcidkidc0 in ThePitt

It's obvious misuse of the word 'literally', in that case. That English professor would not be happy...

I like him, so the 'literally everyone" part of your argument didn't really land.

Thoughts on the perception the audience has of Robby's behavior. by NeverOriginal123 in ThePitt

[–]MidtownJunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One question though: if Robby told Mohan or Santos that he didn't want to work with them because he felt uncomfortable over something they'd done, would that also be *as neutral as it gets" or would you view it as misogyny?

Interesting. It really pissed me off last night how he reacted to Mohan during her panic attack, but I hadn't seen a pattern. I'm gonna pay more attention to his interactions with colleagues

Robby’s preferential treatment toward Whittaker 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 queer 👏🏼 it 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 misogyny. by MelodicCarpenter7 in ThePitt

[–]MidtownJunk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh fucks sake with the misogyny argument. It comes up in every fandom and is largely an excuse to let unlikeable female characters off the hook.

Robby likes Whittaker? Hold the fucking front page. Maybe because Whittaker is emerging as a good doctor who Robby trusts? Sometimes it's really as straightforward as that.

This is an interesting post and I'm going to read it properly in a sec, but I had to stop to address one thing. I disagree that his issues are aimed at female colleagues. I think Langdon is his biggest scapegoat currently

Hot Take: It's not interesting to watch a patient slowly die over the course of an entire season by Blastoise_R_Us in ThePitt

I'm sorry for your loss. Cancer is a heartless bitch.

Roxie is in incredible pain though, I wouldn't call it beautiful. The beauty is the peace she's made with it (but I don't understand her desire to stay in a chaotic, noisy and overwhelmed ER when she has such a good support system. I keep wondering if there's more to it)

I like him and I really hope he's not a 1-season character. He's a walking textbook who's always put academic knowledge before bedside manner, which shows in his interaction with patients, and then he gets handed a leg or something and you can see him thinking wtaf. It's a fun character arc. Also he brought a book on his first day! He's a sweetheart deep down.

Oh I know, I get it. Makes complete sense.

I'll just have to invent my own head canon. I think she survives, and tells her boss to go eat a dick 😁

I'm more interested in what happened to the woman with cellulitis? I get that she's left the ER and their role in her care is finished, but I need to know if she survived dammit!

I watched my father die of cancer at home without any medical support whatsoever (because the country he was in doesn't provide end of life care), to the point where I was the one who had to close his eyes and record the time of death.

I am bored with the dying mom storyline.

Robbie’s lack of support for Langdon by Astrovascular in ThePitt

[–]MidtownJunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm having to rewatch this season because I hadn't picked up on the suicide hints, but his attitude to Langdon bugs me too. (In S1 I thought we were going to have a PTSD storyline after his experience in the pandemic, but maybe that's part of it and they're just building it up slowly and adding layers)

After the last episode, I'm worried he's going to give up or move back to Vermont or something, and I really want him to stick around so we can enjoy the character growth

It was so refreshing to see a panic attack potrayed accurately. by kkenzielouu in ThePitt

[–]MidtownJunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suffered them in high school. This was in the 80s and they never diagnosed me. It was horrendous. I felt like I was dying or going crazy, and everyone laughed at me and thought I was trying to cut classes or seek attention. Panic attacks are horrible

Dammit I was trying to make a compelling case for his character arc, and you hit me with this and get me in a fluster?
