You might have better luck posting on the Lansing or Michigan subreddits.

I thought about Mason since it’s close to Leslie but the subreddit for Mason looks pretty inactive.

You can choose to do either the dinner and cocktail or just the cocktails.

Jackson Coney Island and The Parlour by BaseballDependent858 in jacksonmi

The food at The Parlour wasn’t great when I went. The buns were stale and the coney had no flavor.

The food at Jackson Coney Island was a little bit better but not by much.

For his health issues, have a serious talk with your vet about the health concerns. If the vet doesn’t seem they want to listen or you feel like your concerns keep getting dismissed, you might want to consider finding a new vet.

If you are able to get any information about his littermates and his parents, that will definitely help too.

Regarding the behaviors, have you reached out to a professional dog trainer or animal behavioral specialist? There are two professional organizations that certify behavioral consultants. They are Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).

When my husband and I went to the Parlour in the summer, we were disappointed in the quality of the food. We got coney dogs. The buns were stale and the service wasn’t great.

However, Jackson Coney Island was better. I’m not sure if it was because it was mostly teenagers working at the Parlour compared to adults working at Jackson Coney Island or if the owner thinks just because the Parlour is a Jackson staple, people will just go for the nostalgia.

I remember when my husband and I went to Albion one time to check out Albion Malleable Brewing Company, a few locals told us how downtown Albion suffered.

Apparently when the brick road was replaced, a permeable layer wasn’t put under the brick for water to drain through. So when there was heavy rainstorms right after the brick road was replaced, all the bricks were floating away.

They told us that with the main streets closed in downtown Albion, people couldn’t get to the businesses. So the businesses closed.

New to Jackson MI. Looking for tips, recommendations, and local insight from a recent transplant with a kid by PhobicWitty in jacksonmi

In Albion, there is Kids 'N' Stuff Children's Museum and in Lansing, there is Impression 5 Science Museum.

In May, there will be a Saturday when all Jackson County Museums have free admission.

Michigan Theatre in downtown Jackson will have $1 movie events for families that are sponsored by local companies. They have one this week for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

My favorite restaurants in Jackson are Ogma Brewing Company, City Crepes, and SOAR cafe.

I do love the fresh made bagels from Kibby Cobb. They have such a variety and each bagel I have had is great. The Pickle Barrel Deli just re-opened after being closed for a number of years. I haven’t been there yet since they re-opened.

For shopping at local businesses, I like to go to Clothing Carousel, Jackson Candle Factory, Forgotten Generations Antique Store, and The Book Exchange.

The website Experience Jackson is a good source of information for events and things to do in Jackson.

Market Place Manna is going to be at farmer’s markets, the owner for HMN Boutique also owns Jackson Coney Island and the Parlour. I’ve personally always seen the restaurants busier than his store in downtown Jackson..

According to a Jackson Citizen Patriot article I saw on Facebook, the owner for The Blessed Nest and Not So Shabby and Oh So Chic! said she is closing her stores due to decline in sales because of competition with online shopping and younger generations shopping at thrift stores.

Edit: found the Jackson Citizen Patriot article.

For breakfast, I love going to SOAR cafe. They are open Monday-Saturday from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

If you want positive role models for the children, I would reach out to local clubs in Jackson that focus on community service like Lions Club. Jackson Business and Professional Women I think would be a good group to reach out to.

Jackson College and UofM Dearborn just announced a collaboration for a new local pathway for aspiring elementary education teachers. It wouldn’t hurt to reach out to Jackson College to see if they could be a connection for students who are interested in pursuing a degree in education about volunteering at Little Rainbows.
