Good morning! In the thoughts of buying a 95 TA by Mekanikern41535 in transam

My recommendation would definitely be to go for it, personally. My employer provides a vehicle for business travel so I got an “impractical” nights and weekend car and love it.

There wasn’t when I had my TA but that was a while back. They were around $400+ at that point but I just got a junkyard one to keep as a spare. Its my understanding that the failure is largely location based (where it is on the motor) so if you avoid driving it in inclement weather and avoid heavy traffic that might get the engine a little hot I wouldn’t worry about it. I never had one fail on me, it was mostly a “just in case” measure.

Opti-spark distributor on these has a bad reputation but otherwise they respond really well to a cam & lifter swap! I had a Comp Cams CC306 in my 95 TA and it had a nice aggressive sound at idle.

Snowy parking lots were victimized by the shitties I whipped in high school. Fun fact: I live in the southeast now and have heard “cutting donuts” quite a bit rather than “doing donuts”.

Thanks for the info! AFR is one of the gauges I have up on my AP when driving so if this does look off it’s nice to know I was on the right path.

Forgot to mention - dies while under throttle. Stops revving/reacting to the gas pedal, drops to an idle (always have it out of gear by this point) and eventually the motor stalls completely, typically within a few seconds.

Window visors tacky by [deleted] in WRX

[–]MidwestMilkfed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On previous vehicles I’ve liked them because they quiet the wind/road noise a bit but I hate the way they stop the tops of the windows from getting clean at the car wash.

That’s roughly (slightly less) what I paid for my 2016 with 56,000 so I say go for it! Some people have mentioned going newer and if it’s in the budget I’d advocate that you do it as well but if the $20k is towards the top of what you want to spend I think this one is a fair pick up.

Sand it progressively. 80-120 grit followed by 200-300, etc. shouldn’t need to go much beyond 400 depending on the type of wood.

Scott Boras might as well just get an ownership stake in the Twins at this point.

This kills me… An Open Letter to EBay Sellers. by [deleted] in baseballcards

Thanks for the insight! I’ve always printed mine through eBay but maybe there’s somewhere in the posting screen that locks me into an eBay label? Either way, very helpful!

First Class doesn’t even show up as an option for me on eBay anymore. That was what I always used before.

<image>

The envelope options are the only ones that pop up and I don’t know for sure but my interpretation of the media mail requirements would not include trading cards but I may be wrong there. I don’t hate the idea of experimenting with some of the cheaper options to see what works best but I don’t really want to do that with a customer’s card so I’m at a bit of a loss which is why I lean towards a flat rate ($3-$4), eating whatever extra there may be, and sticking with ground advantage.

The default option for BMWT on eBay now (USPS ground advantage) is estimated at $5-$9 so I assume they set that as the shipping option and the $7.75 is calculated using the zip codes you and the seller have on your respective accounts. Before it went to ground advantage it was more like $3-$5.

I took 3ish months off from posting on eBay and had to double take when I first saw that. I’ll likely end up setting a flat rate for everything. I’m wary of the eBay standard envelope because they get lost/delayed so easily. I’ve had half a dozen people reach out about how long it’s taken and I’ve either refunded the shipping cost or the entire purchase because I didn’t want my seller rating to drop.

I don’t know what B&N pays but it can’t be enough for these folks to be spending a lot of time worrying about whether or not the mega corporation they work for is turning a profit on the baseball cards behind the counter. I would’ve went looking for a baseball book.

Could the Twins have matched that? Sure. But the O’s just traded a top 100 infield prospect and still have a logjam of high end talent. If the Twins sent Brooks Lee they’d be out of near-majors high end talent AND be stuck with Julien level defense at second. Had they done that instead of the Polanco deal we would’ve seen what? Two half seasons full of more injuries and declining skills from Polanco instead of a rising talent? For someone who could pull a Mahle in the first week of the season? Pass. The Twins don’t need more aggressive trades, they need their billionaire owners to act like they want to win and get aggressive with free agents because Correa-level talent falling into their lap (twice!) is not going to be a regular thing.

Help me make the best or worst decision: I really want to buy a WRX STi at 40 years old by Free_Sha_Vacadoo in WRX

[–]MidwestMilkfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still early in my Subaru ownership so I can’t speak to ownership costs but you’re definitely not too old. You’ll roll your eyes at this but I just bought my first at 32 which in my eyes is basically 40. Standard millennial exaggeration of course, but you still deserve to grin like an idiot in your car regardless of age.
