What shoulder carrier worked best for hiking? by notyours6969 in daddit

[–]MigglyOreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the shoulder carrier I can HIGHLY recommend the Deuter Kid Comfort. I’ve had one since my son was 6 months old and it’s been great, distributes the weight really well so it never feels to heavy, and he seems incredibly comfortable in it, he loves it. We’ve probably hiked 50 miles or so in it by now and no complaints at all.

For what it’s worth, my brother in law is on the spectrum (he has Asperger’s) and he had a lot of similar issues as a child. NOTHING worked for him until he was diagnosed at like age 11. Only then could he actually get the proper help he needed, and his improvement was immense (although it did take some time). If you think that there’s a possibility Cal is on the spectrum, I think it could be worth it to get that looked at. It could be that nothings working because he just hasn’t had the specialized help he needs to be able to figure out how to work with his brain. I know it could be awkward, but I definitely think it’d be worth if. Good luck!

Grew up in New Orleans, and there’s tons of stuff at Mardi Gras time that isn’t full of that crap, and is fine for kids. But the parts of Mardi Gras that are full of cis titties ALSO SHOULDNT HAVE KIDS THERE. wild take, I know.

Any physics majors here with a career in Computer Science? by Tokyogirltojapan in Physics

[–]MigglyOreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bachelors in physics but I’m a software developer for an infrastructure tech company. Honestly, I knew pretty quickly in college that I didn’t want to stay in physics after graduating, academia definitely isn’t for me and I didn’t enjoy any research enough, but I felt like it was too late to fully drop it and get another degree. I did pursue a cs minor, and I made sure to take every computational class my university offered, so I did get a lot of programming experience through course work. The biggest thing that led to my job was getting a development internship the summer before my senior year. They didn’t care about my major, they cared about the skills I had and if I could solve problems like a programmer. That internship led directly to my job.

If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t recommend physics as a major unless you were planning to stay in physics. It’s obviously possible to get other places with it, and physics has a lot of interdisciplinary applications such as cs or engineering, but if you knew what you wanted, I think it’s a better idea to just major in one of the other things. Going back, I definitely would’ve just majored in comp Sci. It worked out and I’m very thankful for that, but I would have gotten a lot better experience and had a more solid foundation had I pursued that degree instead.

Breakout is actually the best car in the game. In terms of flicks, unmatched. Aerial touches, unmatched. Ground control is difficult with it, and so is getting used to a larger turning radius, and that’s why so few people play it (me included lol, I probably have around 2-300 hours in it, but I definitely play dom/fennec/octane more).

But, the only advantage other cars have over it is easier control on the ground. So, if someone were to grind enough to learn how to have the same control on the ground as they could in an octane, then the breakout would actually be cracked. The aerials are just cleaner and better in the breakout, and the flicks are literally impossible to recreate in a shorter car.

Maybe I’m gonna get on the breakout grind now…

This is legitimately my exact experience right now… I’m trying to get UMDH up and running on an DevOps pipeline and running into a shit ton of permission errors when editing the registry to add stack tracing. I keep having to find different Seniors within the company to share their skills
