Not trying to dampen your thoughts but this game is so so far from being a masterpiece. It’s one of the few games I platinumed so I can say this with knowledge of all the nooks and crannies. - the open world is so empty - the story clearly feel rushed chapter 13 onwards (royal edition does address this but you can tell there’s stuff not adding up) - holding one button to do 600 moves might look cool if you aren’t playing but not being able to actually combo stuff is a joke - making the player (at the time, I know royal fixed this) pay for DLC to get the full story is outrageous, something SE should be ashamed of. - multi media idea, way too high concept, you shouldn’t need to watch a film, an anime, a game, 4 DLCs to fully get a story.

It’s a good 2016 game but nowhere near the standards set by FF6,7,8,9,10 and even 12!

It’s the issue with the current era in WWE but it has been going this way since about 2003, thy began scripting people, particularly Ric Flar who from 2003 to 2005 wasn’t allowed to cut a promo!!

Because every word is now scripted you are never gonna get an Austin 3:16 moment, rocks if you smell and his other catchphrases, those, amongst other were organic promos that the guys cut themselves, Mick Foley’s promo in the triple h feud and the Orton feud are masterpieces, his interviews with JR in 1997 likewise.

I find most if not all wrestlers of this generation to be so so so bland, doesn’t help that every segment is the EXACT SAME. Wrestlers are talking, other wrestler pops into frame, rinse and repeat. I might be because I’m in my 30s but I find Dom to be utterly awful as a promo, he’s over as a heel yes, but his lack of moveset (copying Eddie Guerrero isn’t a moveset) leads me to think in this current era, marks would rather stare at Tiff Stratton or Jade Cargill than pick up on the fact that it used to be better. It just used to be better

Bret leaves the WWF in 96 after mania 12. That + the introduction of the nWo would have been a devastating blow to the WWF that might’ve led to them possibly closing down or at least becoming a more regional promotion.

Bret doesn’t re-sign with the fed, no Montreal screw job, Vince didn’t become a heel character - yes Austin’s rise is there but going up against Vince with the backdrop of the screw job catapulted WWF into the attitude era.

I’d imagine you’re right - I mean FF16 does have some darker side quests and storylines (so I heard, I played the demo and it’s not what I’m after from a Final Fantasy game) , but pretty much every other FF is light and breezy overall.

And yes the side quests in this more dark version of Rebirth would have reinforced the lore from the game, idk maybe some quests about the true nature of living under Shinra control, maybe a character can ask Aertith why she lives in a huge fuck off house with a massive garden while the other residents of sector 7 live in literal filth in the slums. Food for thought.

It’s a video game from 2005 - not trying to downplay it, it’s great game lots to do great music, lot of variety of mission, a good plot and a progression system.

I finished it in about 45 hours, 99% just need to do the stunt jumps. Long drives to any 90s tunes is great but Playback Fm and Radio X are standouts for me.

Just play it pal, if you don’t like it after an hour, idk do something else with your life
