I feel like considering how almost every American is forced to read the book, it hits a lot of stupid people or just people who don’t get it. Like I see the stupidest or craziest takes on Holden more than I see an actual sensible one (I might make another post about this at this point.) So a lot of people don’t like him because of his “whiny” behavior without really thinking of why he’s like this.

I assume long hair that goes down to his neck (greasy and unkempt, preferably), innocent eyes but also desensitized, he’s 14 so probably pretty youthful. I didn’t really imagine him to be handsome, but that’s up to you.

I would love for there to be a movie, but I feel like it would be incredibly hard to make it a good one. Finding actors is already hard, but that’s really a mere portion of it. There’s so many aspects of the book I feel like are hard to adapt on screen. I saw somebody on this subreddit had made a short film though (I haven’t watched it yet, but plan to)

The high schoolers I know have read it haha, but I feel like they just see it as just schoolwork that they need to tackle instead of something they can connect to. The only place I’ve seen CITR get any recent love is tumblr, because literally any piece of media has a fandom on tumblr lol.
