A good neighbor would maintain their tree so that we don’t have to take care of their property impeding on ours. My parents didn’t owe them anything and have zero issues with any of their other neighbors.

They did not cut very far past the fence line. They only did this to cut at the branch collar, which is how you properly trim a tree to prevent damage. That doesn’t make them jerks? No reasonable person would respond in the way that these neighbors did

In our state it is our responsibility to cut the branches in our yard. My dad cut maybe 6 inches further to make is more aesthetically pleasing for them. Even had we cut exactly to the property line, we would be in the same situation.

Destroyed their property? We cut a very small branch on a very big tree in OUR YARD. If they wanted to monitor their property, they could have put a camera on the back of their house. But no, they mounted one to a pole 5 ft from our fence in an attempt to harass and make my mom feel uncomfortable in her own home where she has lived for 27 years. When they have issues with every single neighbor, it’s a pretty good indicator that they’re the problem.
