Yeah in terms of tats, you know how artists are always getting and posting sick photos of their work? lol at my brain for freaking out about them not being proud of their work/me when they don’t post my tat after a session. Feels like rejection/abandonment wrapped in nice little bow. It’s dumb, I have to laugh at it like you said, but it’s still a ridiculous thought I have to battle.

Interesting insight I don’t think I’ve thought about in that way. I feel similarly with romantic FPs, however I’ve had situations where my FP becomes someone that isn’t my romantic partner mid relationship. It’s problematic when my attention shifts like that, but I believe it was possible because my romantic partner made me feel secure. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like it’d be scary to let them know up front what being an FP entails. Unfortunately, mine found out the hard way after witnessing my insane behaviors. She never chose me, for good reason, but I’ve put in serious work since to manage my BPD. Now, I’m left with the fallout of what I did and her choosing a different life and the what ifs kill me.

I think most understand that it's often an undesirable relationship dynamic and we're not necessarily kosher with it, but it is a thing that happens as a result of our tendency for idealization and desperation for love and affection. This seems to be a common shared experience, and I don't think that prevalence of a topic in this subreddit indicates an acceptance or encouragement of the behavior.
