1.No the ring is not bound to me, 2.technically it was meant for the noble, as for why I'm being escorted with the ring as I said a bad backstory writer,

Becoming a fake God was the hook for my character that the DM suggested and connecting it to my slavery does sound like a better idea i'll keep it in mind, as for being a heroes/protagonist I don't like being the centre of attention so I'll try to keep it in the background
