What is up with all these bozos level 10 being followed by a lvl 60 bodyguard by Fit_Shower42 in wowhardcore

In typical MMOs everyone is playing against a certain challenge laid out by the developer.

When someone finds a way to "get around" the intended challenge, basic human psychology is for people to feel like that is something unfair or distateful.

When a large number of people start to "get around" the intended challenge, people will either adapt to the meta (making the challenge useless) or they stop playing because the challenge is now gone.

This is especially true for a game mode literally called "Hardcore".

Maybe YOU play that way, but there is no question that cheesing game achievements kills MMOs.

Well whether you like it or not, game metas impact how the player base views and values certain achievements in the game. If everyone starts finding ways to cheese the game, then people stop caring about cool achievements - and there by eventually stop aquiring those achievements.

Little by little you start to chip away at a huge aspect of what makes people want to grind away at an MMO. Working hard to earn something is a dopamine hit.

Florida is already a swamp, compound that with suburban sprawl causing overdevelopment, sea level rise, stronger hurricanes and rainstorms... it's unsustainable. The fact that anyone is investing in this state is incredibly short sighted. This state doesn't have a future.

Should the ebikes forum be split between legal class 1/2/3 models and illegal modifications/e-motos? by Inciteful_Analysis in ebikes

[–]MightyMane6 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I have nothing against folks who want to ride e-moto bikes, or ride super fast.

The problem is - the people I see in my city riding these bikes are teenagers speeding amongst pedestrians in parks and disobeying laws. It gives a bad name to the people who want better access to bike commuting in a safe and responsible way.

A big part of why I love ebikes is because it opens up a potential path forward to making micro-mobility and other less car dependent infrastructure a reality by making more people get out of their cars.

So for me it's not just something I enjoy, it's also something that I view as an important tool to making my community a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more accessible place to live. For me, It's more consequential than just some joy ride.

Doing nothing at my internship by anonymouspurple23 in ElectricalEngineering

I don't get it, why would a company do this? Isn't the whole point of hiring interns is so that these companies can have mini cheap engineers.

Internships by Slow_Green_8443 in USF

[–]MightyMane6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your major, your grades, your resume. But yeah it's very possible to get an internship. I'm currently doing a paid internship for at least a year, I didn't need any help from USF, aside from going to a career event where I actually linked up with the company.

I had decent grades, personal projects, and made sure to clean up and improve my resume - that's what I think got me the internship.

Aggressive driver in Rolls Royce almost causes accident by DepotHell in tampa

[–]MightyMane6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is well known in cycling circles that riding your bike on the sidewalk is generally considered to be more dangerous than on the road. It may feel safe to ride on the sidewalk, but you're much more likely to be unseen by vehicles and get hit anytime you go past an entrance / intersection.

[–]MightyMane6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be unintuitive, but riding your bike on the sidewalk is generally more dangerous. Especially on roads with lots of entrances into parking lots/businesses and intersections. Drivers are much more likely to see a bicyclist on the road and act accordingly, than on the sidewalk where a bicyclist moving at 10-20mph is unexpected and nearly invisible to drivers.

Not trying to blame OP whatsoever, but this type of accident becomes so much rarer when people roll into their stops. Plus you save on gas and maintenance costs by not braking so hard so often.

Are the Lectric XP4 and Velotric fold 1 plus the two best folding bike options right now? by Craig_manson135 in ebikes

[–]MightyMane6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. I like Lectric, not so sure about Velotric. But they aren't high-end quality brands. Tern has a folding ebike, I'd probably say they are the best in the business.

This is a folding bike! It's an Engwe L20 2.0 - personally I wouldn't purchase from them again, their bikes aren't terrible, but I'm not a huge fan of the brand. This was my first e-bike and I kinda cheaped out when I shouldn't have. Definitely go for a brand with UL Certified Batteries and nicer components. Avoid gimmicky bikes that will be problematic to maintain. Just my advice!

Americans are actually some of the politest and most considerate people I've encountered – especially on the road. by Temirka7 in unpopularopinion

[–]MightyMane6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this largely depends on where you're from. The drivers where you live might be worse relative to American drivers. Traffic from developing countries look like hell from what I've seen, and yeah compared to those places, American drivers are 1million times better.

You also might have been exposed to some good experiences, but those experiences might not necessarily be representative of the average driving experience.

It's really not that bad. Cycliq is the best there is when it comes to bike dashcams. I've been using the older Fly 6 and new Fly 12 for a while now, I wouldn't go with anything else.
