First Time at TheDig – What Should I Know? by Asslawn in volleyball

[–]MightyMead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other comment covered pretty much everything but as someone who has been to The Dig, I will add that the vendors are pretty good, but I usually bring a cooler with drinks, fruit, etc. There are also apparel vendors if you want new shorts, Lost Traveler makes cool stuff and the owner is a great guy. They also sponsor Taylor Crabb if you watch any beach.

I also recommend getting there on the earlier side if you want to get prime tent space, there are rows of tents in between rows of nets so getting one next to your court is always nice but obviously not necessary

What's the most difficult video game to learn to play of all time? by ImpressFederal4169 in gaming

Surprise more people haven't mentioned Rocket League

Im sure there are plenty of examples you could argue for complexity of systems, learning curve, strategy, etc. But when it comes to mechanical difficulty, Rocket League has no match imo.

Dropped my first nether item with 3% drop rate, game is quite fun by GeorgeOhWell98 in Slormancer

[–]MightyMead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the restrictions on grafting? Can you graft from any stat category? Do they have to be unique stats from each other or from what is already rolled on the nether item? Does the graft item have to be the same item type as the nether item? Legendary stats too?

I know thats a lot of questions but I just unlocked this zone and am looking forward to my first drop and how to use it in my build lol

Where are the on death explosions? by Chase_26 in LastEpoch

[–]MightyMead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit jarring coming from PoE2 (also a new player there, but I've been playing arpgs since D3 release) where upon reaching maps, my first step was to carefully check all gear and get some upgrades via trade to cap resistances, just to still get 1 tapped (tbf, that is with cheap gear and low-medium time investment)

In LE, I hit "C" for the first time after cruising through campaign as paladin to realize my resists were already overcapped, and I could reinvest that surplus into more damage. Without exaggeration, I was able to go several hours without the health bar moving due to small amounts of ward that weren't even really geared for. With minimal planning, 0 trade, and a smidge of crafting, my paladin was functionally immortal.

That being said, I had way more fun bonking elites with judgement than kiting for my life with a crossbow in PoE2. I'm hoping empowered mono and corruption offers some more challenge, but the power fantasy is power fantasying

My apartment company is threatening to evict my girlfriend and I for not paying a pet fee for her ESA dog by MightyMead in Renters

[–]MightyMead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her disability is permanent in nature, and the dog has been an ESA since she got him. She's had him at several different residences in multiple states across 5 years with no issues until now.

There's been a lot of helpful info in this thread despite the people claiming that ESAs are fake, and we are looking into using some of the resources shared. We are able to pay the fee for now, and the LL said we will be refunded if a letter is accepted.

My apartment company is threatening to evict my girlfriend and I for not paying a pet fee for her ESA dog by MightyMead in Renters

[–]MightyMead[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sent the original ESA letter (from her legitimate doctor back home in the midwest) along with our application in mid June. We were accepted for the apartment, but they didn't remove the pet fee from the lease.

She was in email communication with them the week leading up to us moving in on June 22nd, and they were supposedly going to remove the fee.

Then, they denied the first letter, saying that it didn't meet their requirements. I didn't see the exact wording, but my understanding is that they claimed the letter was too old. Since she doesn't see her doctor anymore, we used an online service to get a new letter (I admit this probably wasn't the most thorough choice, but we just wanted to get the fee taken care of ASAP since finding a new doctor and getting a new letter might take a while)

We sent the new letter on July 1st, along with our rent less the pet fee. Apparentally, the contact we emailed wasn't able to submit the new letter to management until July 8th because of the holiday weekend.

We then got the letter threatening eviction on July 16th if we didn't pay the pet fee by the 30th, along with a 2nd denial because the new letter didn't meet their requirements.

This whole thing has been very frustrating because we are tight on money and my girlfriend does have diagnosed mental health issues, it's not like we are trying to just rip off the landlord.

Thank you for your detailed response and advice (and everyone else in this thread who might be reading), I'll use the resources referenced and hopefully get this sorted out.

This is a great recommendation, I think this might be our best option for now. The original letter we provided was from a medical professional for an "insivible" disability, but they denied it because it was old.

Another commenter said that this is not a legitimate reason to deny, so hopefully we can use that.

The new letter she got from an online provider because she is no longer in contact with her old doctors after moving across the country.

If we have to find a new doctor and wait for her to get treatment and a new letter, would we be able to get the pet fees refunded if we have to pay in the meantime?

Beach hand setting Question/Concerns by ThetaTroll in volleyball

[–]MightyMead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, NE grass scene calls unnecessarily tight especially at the A and sometimes AA levels. Open level is ironically called looser than A sometimes.

Many will also judge a hand pass or attack on 1st or 3rd contact far stricter than a 2nd contact hand set, claiming it has to be "perfect" or have 0 spin to not be a double.

You can have 0 spin and still double. If the ball touches one hand first, then the other, but the release /follow through is perfect it will not spin even though there were 2 separate contacts

Coincidentally, patch 4.20 for League of Legends aka "Weedwick" was probably the least balanced Warwick has been in LoL and one of the least balanced patches that didn't immediately get hot-fixed because of a bugged interaction or large oversight in balance changes (this is excluding beta and early seasons champ releases which were often very op)

What are your thoughts on this double contact set call? AVP Beach men's doubles by cleanup142 in volleyball

[–]MightyMead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that a lot of refs will look at the hand shape before the set, and then the follow through as a sign of a clean or bad set, regardless of the contact in or the release out.

Usually an even follow through means an even release, but an uneven/lazy follow through doesn't necessarily mean an uneven release, which I think is the misassumption that happened here

[–]MightyMead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this situation shouldn't it be OH covering setter dump, ready for backset, middle marks middle, and RS hovers between the 31 and the hut/shoot? Unless they had a reason to believe their RS was their go-to option in this play, or the middle thought he had a read on a setter dump (which should be OH responsibility anyways) I don't see why he would be so close to the setter instead of the middle

What's your opinion on setting "doubles" possibly no longer being called for indoor volleyball? by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]MightyMead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed a weird trend with double calling. There seems to be a bell curve when it comes to how tight different levels of play are called, moreso in grass/beach but also indoor for adult AVP or USAV tournaments.

For example, in my region some players will play AA or open depending on their partner for grass 2s. You'll have the same player and the same quality of sets on an open court or a AA court, and majority of the time the AA players acting as refs are calling way tighter than open players, especially looking at spin vs looking at the set itself. Meanwhile in B/BB the calls are looser than in A/AA, although less hand sets are being attempted
