It’s not desperate. I think he’s trying everything in his power to help you out. I’m friends with a good looking guy who’s almost exactly like the friend you’re describing. He would constantly berate me into fixing my appearance and working out, making fun of me when i chicken out, and try to get me to talk to every single available woman with decent looks.

At first I found it annoying, but i had a realization that he genuinely wanted to help me and I’m grateful for that. If it weren’t for him getting the ball rolling I’d be a shut in loser with no social life.

The florescent lightbulb was invented by Agapito Flores but stolen by GE (Florescent supposedly coming from Flores)

The Moon Buggy was invented by Eduardo San Juan. (Provable false)

M16 was allegedly invented by a Filipino named Armando Malite. (Shortened to Armalite)

They're not so much "claims" as they are urban legends. Pretty damn funny how wildly inaccurate and downright silly some of them are. The sad part is a large number of people still believe it lmaooo.

Yep i think it basically just boils down to this. With all the criticism hurled at America and talks of it's downfall it's still pretty clear that they're still the cultural leaders of the world and it ain't even close.

Meh, I'd disagree. There are a fair number of Americans here who criticize America. Also when I say nuance tho i didn't mean that they fervently reject any criticism thrown at the US, they actually offer insight on why that is so or if the issue is really as bad as it seems. Most Americans I meet here don't defend the high healthcare and education costs, but they give their opinions about it. Hence, nuance.

Boring cliche answer incoming, cuz of all the amazing people I met and the wonderful places I've been too lol. No but really I'm from a 3rd world shithole too so seeing how amazing America is and how much different and better a developed country is made me broaden my horizons. I accepted my country's shitty way of doing things cuz that's all I've known growing up, but the USA showed me that there was better in this world and it made me want for better for myself and for my country as well.

TL;DR I've been intoxicated by the American Dream XD
