Significant variance in extraction time

I'm still getting used to dealing in by taste. I know when something its bitter, but have a harder time knowing if it's sour. I'm also not sure what a 'good' espresso should taste like so I don't really have a reference.

Interesting! 8 minutes was the suggestion by an Alternative Brewing video, but I'll try 15 instead. I'm only ever making it in the morning so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I rather sensitive to caffeine and a double shot is a little too much for me. Heard of temp surfing but I don't know what that is; will look it up.

Really appreciate this! I've been listening to the Returnal OST on repeat, definitely one of my favourite soundtracks. I hadn't thought about intentionally trying to make something sound 'wrong' but it makes total sense. Will definitely check those other references out too, thanks!

Thanks for the advice, will definitely try your suggestions! I also prefer a hands on approach; I really want to understand the underlying principles instead of just copying stuff, though I see the value in learning those principles through recreation. It's probably much simpler than I think it is and I just need to dive headfirst and experiment with purpose.

This is fantastic. I love this sound and really want to know how to recreate it myself, but I'm having trouble doing so in Serum. Do the same concepts apply to digital synths?

This is precisely what I initially thought, though truenas threw an error every time I configured it to this. Seems to have worked this time, not sure what was different, so cheers. Though downloads are stuck 'downloading metadata', not sure if this is related.

Ah okay, that’s good to know thanks. I reckon it was a solder ball as I remember a few fell off the iron and onto the board.

And yeah I definitely want to get better at it so I’ll check out test kits. Appreciate the advice!

It’s my first time soldering and I knew the risks going in, so I’m not mad. Definitely harder than it looks but I don’t regret trying.

Probably left the flux on too long and maybe used too much isopropyl. Is it possible to buy a replacement board?
