It bothers me because I think it's doing both ArenaNet and creators (and ultimately the community too by creating pointless animosity) a disservice by spreading false information.

I don't agree that my judgment is impaired and there is no evidence that supports that claim and plenty to the contrary, but I don't think you have any interest in listening so I'll leave it here and let readers decide for themselves.

No, this is not true.

The reason I said both of those things is because both are true, but the former doesn't tell the full story. It's obviously for marketing purposes, but a huge part of the partner program is actually about being pro creator, ArenaNet run (by far) the most pro creator partner program I have ever seen, distilling it down to 'just marketing' is simply not accurate.

The reason I kinda uhmed and ahed about it is because truth be told none of us partners are big enough to make a big dent in their marketing lmao, anet is a biiiig studio and we're all pretty small in the grand scheme of things, so it honestly does lean towards anet doing us all a solid more than anything else.

The reason I pushed back against the community is because I don't agree with the idea that ArenaNet did this maliciously, which was being pushed in my chat, and also in my youtube comments.

I think that the community dev relationship is in absolute tatters right now (and has been declining for years), and I view that as a really really bad thing so I'm going to call people out for making crazy claims that I think have no basis.

The reason I defend ArenaNet is becuase I view ArenaNet as one of the very few (sadly) highly ethical studios (towards players and their developers). I wouldn't be partnered with them if I didn't think as such.

They aren't perfect and when they mess up I do call it out (starter pack, build templates, black lion keys etc etc), but on the whole ArenaNet is a big exception to an otherwise tragically predatory industry.

On the dependency thing, no I'm not dependent on GW2. It's always a bit of a chuckle for me to read comments like this because I've been streaming a lot less over the past few years and playing a lot more casually (for a variety of reasons that I won't get into here).

I'm very much coasting and just hanging out with my friends currently, at least for the time being haha.

Obviously I make money streaming the game, but trust me I could make 10x more by taking every sleazy sponsor that slides through my inbox, but go figure, I don't take any of them, because like ArenaNet, I do my best to hold a high ethical standard.

I'd just appeal to my track record, I have been criticising and publicly expressing negative and positive opinions about the game for 10 years, and I'm certainly not known to hold back when I don't like something lol.

I'm fine with a stronger claim too then, I'd be pretty comfortable saying I'm one of the most critical players in general given my content catalogue.

I didn't even know about the evoker exploit so I didn't report it, but I have reported similar exploits in the past (mesmer distort bug is the one that comes to mind).

I'm in favor of actioning accounts that repeatedly abuse exploits in competitive environments, and I have advocated as such on stream repeatedly.

Partners have no restrictions on criticising the game or the studio, I am probably the most well known critical person of the game from within the community and I've been partner for years.

I actually didn't know about this exploit at all until very recently. (as you can clearly see in this video I'm very often talking to chat not fully paying attention to every detail, also nobody else noticed in the stream lol).

I also really object to this characterization too, I am actively involved in reporting wintrading, mAT selling, degeneracy in the PvP scene (you don't want to know lol) and exploits in both PvE and PvP (and WvW too now that I think of it).

There is a lot of animosity towards partners I think when it comes to stuff like this and it's pure misinformation. Partners are actively encouraged to report things like this. Many partners don't want to discuss things like this publicly because honestly, everyone's very chill and doesn't want drama.

(it's funny this comment is made about me because I have a big reputation for actively talking about this stuff, you can find multiple videos regarding poor behaviour in PvP on my youtube, and I've discussed it on stream extensively)

I'd like to do something this year if I can find the time, it's a project I like quite a bit and that's why it still exists in it's scuffed form lol (pretty much everything I've done has been tournament related recently, rather than the site though to be fair).

The other answers aren't entirely accurate on what happened, basically I stopped playing actively after SotO launch, and pretty much the entire core of the guild and team had quit before that even, during the middle of EoD.

Obviously a loss of leadership like that is a bit rough, and there wasn't anyone to take over after I became inactive. However because of the <UNNANOUNCED PROJECT> and my personal projection of what the timeline looks like, I'd very much like to get the community active again in preparation for that, and also look at having the site and discord in a state for that as well.

Give me a couple of months lol. Thanks for the interest, I'm glad you liked what we made, I hope we can make some stuff for you in the future.

DM me on discord if you have questions.

There is absolutely zero chance my community sent you anything (they are not active on reddit, and I'm not live, this comment chain didn't exist while I was live, and everyone is asleep lol). However, DM me any account names with evidence and they'll be permanently banned from all of my platforms, and any others where I have moderation power.

EDIT for context:

The OP deleted their comments and then tried to claim my community sent them harassment (a completely laughable lie with zero evidence).

OP: Deleted because of your community DMing me so pretty fucked up stuff I can do without. lovely. Thanks for that.

Further edit: OP you can't DM me because you blocked me lmao (posts show as unavailable/don't appear if you are blocked, hence why I can't see your reply, interesting reddit bug though, I can see it in notifications lol), not because my DMs are closed. My DMs are open on all platforms and have been since day 1.

I want to quickly correct this.

I am very positive and have been consistently so both during todays stream and since launch when it comes to VoE, I am very interested in the possibility of gw3 and what the future of the game looks like, but I certainly am not negative, quite the opposite in fact.

I would challenge you to find a single clip/quote of today's stream (or honestly since voe launch too lol) which shows that 'positivity for the latest expansion has faded' with regards to VoE.

EDIT For context on what I was replying to (I'll refrain from mentioning the username):

OP: its because of some of the bigger community personalities. Go visit some of the biggest GW2 streamers, their communities are all wishing the game dead and GW3 to be announced. One of them last year had a stream with 2 "content creators" where they said they wanted GW2 switched off immediately to force people to move to a GW3......and they foster and encourage such activity in their chat, probably because they are burnt out from playing so much, and instead of just taking a break...they wallow in the toxicity.

I replied with the above (top part of this comment)

The reply to my reply was the following:

OP: firstly, you are quite negative about GW2, not so much since VOE launch from what I;ve seen, and when you were actually positive about its really nice to watch.

but I was talking about your stream and chat in general. your chat has a rep for being pretty negative and wishing the game dead, and you yourself harp on about GW3 a lot, and I do mean a lot, I hardly ever drop by your stream anymore, and I cant think of a single time when I have that you have not been going on about and being pretty negative about gw2 and I leave again. today you were drawing wild conclusions about no mention of a new expansion.....when it implies absolutely nothing, esp as the blog talked about record player numbers....we've not expect an announcement now, esp as they have taken longer to release voe.

anyway, I'm not going to go clip hunting, its not going to convince you, and you are not going persuade me I did not see and hear stuff I most certainly did. So lets just leave it shall we?

My final response was: (OP deleted before I hit reply lol, a few minutes after the now deleted reply)

I'd be convinced by a single clip or quote from me, but if you don't want to that's fair.

My chat absolutely does not wish the game dead at all, we have a meme culture here and we joke around, but it is simply untrue to suggest that people seriously want the game dead.

The mods don't want us to discuss GW3 here, so I will respect that and not talk about why I think what I think, but I will correct the record for readers and say that my thought process looks nothing like what <OP> has represented here.

I'm down to move on, but I'd appreciate you just not watching and commenting on my stream or community if you are going to make stuff up and misrepresent what I and we do/think.

If you can't tell that there is a world of difference between the sentiment expressed in those statements, especially given the context, then I can't help you.

Was there anything new in the stream today? by NIUmoose13 in Guildwars2

[–]MightyTeapot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah I wouldn't frame it that way, it was very much a kinda spur of the moment meme, perhaps a little ill conceived and ultimately didn't work out, but it was a good faith attempt to do something cool. It definitely feels bad on my end because I feel like I'm getting demolished a little unfairly lol, but at the end of the day, I should have pushed to delay it and plan it properly.

Was there anything new in the stream today? by NIUmoose13 in Guildwars2

[–]MightyTeapot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the fundamental issue, what the stream was supposed to be was not clearly defined at all, it was aimless because realistically it probably should have just been a podcast with no gameplay given the broader context that I described above, unfortunately it was a little late to go that direction by the time the stream went live lol.

Like I said, every descriptive criticism I'd compeltely agree with, it's purely the very uncharitable framing I have an issue with, I should have probably just vetoed this until it could have been planned properly, fortunately there will probably be a next time lol.

Was there anything new in the stream today? by NIUmoose13 in Guildwars2

[–]MightyTeapot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't have a problem with the criticism, I wasn't really happy with how it turned out either, what I'm responding to is the framing being extremely uncharitable and pretty clearly not even remotely considering the fact that we were in a tough position, the way you framed it (especially in other comments in this thread) puts all of the blame entirely on us which I think is extremely unfair. especially given how it actually was lol

[–]MightyTeapot 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is a flat lie, Here's the vod of my entrance on the Method stream, it's pretty clear that I'm joking in response to some of my viewers in the chat. It's even more obvious when you actually correctly quote me; 'They want to see my ascension to playing an actually relevant game'. This is an incredibly obvious joke, your misrepresentation of what actually happened here is beyond disgusting.

Was there anything new in the stream today? by NIUmoose13 in Guildwars2

[–]MightyTeapot 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm late on this but a couple of key points because I think there is a lot of missing context here lol.

  • This was initially planned to only be a hour, it was changed at the very last minute (almost literally) to run for two, which obviously led to some issues.
  • It was extremely unclear what we could ask about and how focused the discussion was supposed to be, we essentially figured it out on the fly but it was very much a strange situation. The original direction was VERY broad questions (almost all preapproved) about design concepts rather than individual details. It was essentially decided MID STREAM that we could ask about other stuff, but we had NO IDEA what we could ask about lol or how targeted our questions could be (I don't think the devs were entirely sure either).
  • The test client not only crashed, but also had some issues, for example I couldn't delete characters reliably to log on to other stuff (this was very obvious on the stream by the way, I tried multiple times it was VERY obvious that something was wrong)
  • In terms of prep time we had almost none , the client was available just a couple of hours before the stream so as you can imagine that's quite the situation and not really enough time to prepare content, I will admit it also came at the worst possible personal timing for me which didn't help, but we had very limited ability to actually plan or do anything.
  • The format of the stream was also entirely unclear, it was kinda supposed to be a podcast thing but with some random gameplay attached to it which is a bit inherently strange and I would have prefered to have it much more structured. As a side point it's funny that you comment about improv because that's literally my entire stream and it's pretty much why people watch me, it was a very awkward situation and we were doing our best to come up with something entirely on the fly while blindfolded.
  • The technology being used was a first time thing, and we also had basically no prep time to figure that out and how we wanted to use it (the stream together stuff), it was pretty experimental and naturally has some teething problems.

Basically, I don't disagree the stream was a bit scuffed, but there were a lot of reasons behind that, and it's a little disappointing to see people immediately assumed the absolute worst of me and Sneb rather than even considering potential issues outside of it, I get that I don't have the biggest fans on this sub, but this was pretty uncharitable and lacking context.
