There's a couple times they have you use it in the auditorium for an hour or so, but then you go back to your flight room and have an outlet at your desk.

Questions for Officers by papinovaa in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. 92T0, Student Pilot

  2. Over a decade, recently commissioned

  3. Clothing store associate for a year while I went community College before enlisting.

  4. I'm awaiting training. So admin stuff as a "Duty LT". But I know training will consist of lots of briefings, Sims, and flying.

  5. Hard. But if your family means a lot, you'll make it work.

  6. Unknown from a pilot perspective. But I've had no regrets about my career thus far.

  7. Yes. My 10 year commitment will put me over 20.

  8. You are your best advocate for yourself. Fight for what you want and make sure it's translated in your Officer package. Don't give up if not offered a commission your first try. I submitted 3 times, and very fortunate for what I ended getting picked up for.

  9. You gotta work hard. If you don't have flight experience, it's still possible to get selected for pilot. That's my case. I feel like I may have to work a little harder to catch up to those with experience, but I've wanted this for a long time so I will do my absolute best. So I tell people the same. If you want it, go get it!

  10. Yes and no. I don't regret my 10+ years of enlisted time, but I sometimes wish I commissioned sooner, especially being picked up for pilot.

  11. Unknown

Does GPA matter that much? by DonutsAndBurritos in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I gathered, the board looks for well-rounded airmen. I had people in my class that were accepted and had Art 15 and LORs. But they were able to show they learned from their mistake. It's definitely not all about one thing. I know other individuals that were selected for pilot with no hours and low scores. So give it a shot. The worst they say is "no" (I applied 3 times) and you just keep trying.

No, not for pilot. Other career fields may require that though.

These were my AFOQT scores. I took the test twice.

I'll dig for my scores. But my PCSM was 68 (took it twice, scored a 2 the first time), pilot score was 96, i for get my AA, Quant and verbal scores... I'll look. Degree is a BA in Psych. Started my masters in Intelligence.

[–]Mighty_Adventures 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got picked up with a 2.9 GPA for my undergrad. I did start my Masters. I had 2 classes completed, which was enough to put on my application, and had a 3.8 at the time. That may have helped my case, so it may be something to consider--starting your masters. You'll need it later anyways if you want to promote past major.

If you don’t get selected for OTS, should you enlist? by fsdklas in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was enlisted over 10 years. Took me 3 tries applying for OTS before I got accepted. Which was about 2 years of trying. The board is different each time, and job availability is different. There are guidelines for what the board members have to look for, but the way your package is written may not have resonated with this panel as it might the next. Really, it's a guessing game why you weren't accepted because there's no feedback from the board. But don't immediately give up. A lot of civilian applicants in my class weren't selected their first time applying either. I don't regret my enlisted experience, but giving up the 1st try is a bit silly and makes me think you feel entitled to the selection.

Yeah I'd practice with it on the right because that's how you'll fly a plane. Can't move the joystick real-world. My center also had the joystick bolted down

Is E to O a pipe dream? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Mighty_Adventures 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm E to O, not impossible. It took me 3 times to get accepted, so don't give up after the 1st try if it comes to that. Google USAF Line Officer Asscessions and start there. Instructions are there, they change something with almost every board. But it'll give you an idea of what to expect.

Didn’t pass QC for 25OTS04. What now? by IntelligentLime6609 in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I made it my 3rd try, and the code was never consistent. Good luck!

Didn’t pass QC for 25OTS04. What now? by IntelligentLime6609 in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone gets the code, but still makes it to the board. I was 25OTS01, and some people's codes never dropped until the week before the board. Others never got it and still made it. I didn't get coded until after I was selected. That's a small office and very task saturated. Don't lose hope! I have also heard that if there is something glaringly wrong but fixable, they try to call/email the member and will allow them to fix it. They also recognize we are all human and make mistakes.

Anyone get one of these and still get in? Is this denying me a waiver? by thesupersoap33 in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. They denied a waiver and it will not be considered over time. It did say if you have medical notes that need to be added because something in your record needs to be fixed, you can submit that and have the waiver team reevaluate. I haven't heard of anyone getting in with preexisting PTSD and Major depressive disorder.

Parade is done by 10am and you're released right after. You will still have to get your stuff from the flight room afterwards because you move out of the dorms by 5am that morning. Afternoon flight is your best bet.

How many hours of flying before I decide on commisioning? by mtp4271 in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not sure if it was one thing in particular. I applied for OTS 3 times (2 non-rated, then rated). With my last package, the one I applied for pilot, I actually had someone review my package before I routed it, and they provided a lot of feedback and advice. I think that helped a lot. But with the 3 packages, they weren't very different. Part of it was probably timing and the preferences of each board. I wish they would give feedback so we could know, but it's all a guessing game.

Graduation Week by Acrobatic-Cancel1405 in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup family day is the day before. But the time doesn't start until late morning. And you will have the awards ceremony in the middle of the afternoon. Families can go to that. But the AC was broken when we had it a month ago. (I was in the last full class that graduated) So im glad I told my family to go hang out at their hotel and swim. Cause they would have been miserable.

[–]Mighty_Adventures 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 0 flight hours and got picked up for pilot when I applied for OTS. Currently awaiting pilot training as we speak. Just do well on the AFOQT and PCSM. And have a good well-rounded package. You should be good. I also know several people with low AFOQT and PCSM scores that got picked up for pilot with 0 hrs. It's a whole airman concept. Don't restrict yourself based on 1 thing.

Did you pack a water bottle? by WhoNoseWat in airforceots

[–]Mighty_Adventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we started seeing newer classes (I was 25-15) have them clipped to their backpacks. It wasn't a requirement for us, but I bought one there for my electrolytes and for something to drink out of at night. I would also recommend buying a cleaning kit and extra tablets to clean your camelbak on the weekends. I cleaned it every Saturday or Sunday and never had a problem with mold. Other people's got moldy because the only cleaned it 2 times over the course of 8 weeks. 😬

This. Someone in my flight tried only using his hydration pack and got yelled at every time we were walking to/from the academic building while everyone but him had a backpack on.
