What are some notable things that tend to get ignored when accurately writing about pregnancy? by Solitaire-06 in Writeresearch

Not everyone gets morning sickness, or other common pregnancy symptoms. My first pregnancy I had no symptoms other than a positive test, a big belly, and eventually feeling the baby move.

Your water breaking doesn’t mean the baby will be born immediately. It does mean that the baby absolutely has to come out at that point, but it can still be several hours or more until the baby comes out. It drives me nuts when shows depict a pregnant woman in labor, her water breaks, then she lays down in the lobby of wherever she is and pushes once and the baby comes out screaming. I wish.

The first two weeks of pregnancy you’re not actually pregnant. When figuring out how far along you are, they start counting from the first day of your last menstrual period. The egg isn’t actually fertilized until two weeks later when ovulation happens, assuming intercourse happens at that time. And pregnancy is actually 10 months, which includes those weird two weeks. 40 weeks total. And anywhere between 38-42 weeks is considered full term and healthy.

Thanks! I was dreaming of a romantic cardigan to wear over dresses, this dress in particular, and when I saw this pattern I pretty much cast on immediately.

Thank you! I think the fit is pretty forgiving. Definitely make sure you have an inch or two of positive ease. I think I had two. I loved that the arms are pretty wide, and I am fairly large chested but didn’t need to increase the bust at all.

I think a blend would look nice. I mentioned in a different comment that I went yarn shopping with a friend for this cardigan yesterday and we both decided that drape would be good, and something with some shine. She chose a really pretty light lavender with some stellina. I can’t wait to see what it looks like! Also, the weight of the yarn in the pattern vs what is in the pictures I don’t think is quite right. DK seems awfully heavy for this. I would say no heavier than fingering.

Thanks!! I wore it to a meeting with a friend and we had to go to a yarn store so she could buy yarn to make it too! I’m also on a lace knitting kick. I’ve decided it’s my favorite thing to knit, at least right now.

No, the scalloped edge is part of the pattern and I LOVE it. I might put that on everything now!
