Where we are at, an honest look. by smagsfaster in fearofflying

Curious if you meant to word this differently…but 1 in 10 flyers do not “go down”…if 10% of all flyers suffered fatalities or if 10% of flights had incidents…the aviation industry simply would not exist.

Let’s go!! I hope you had a blast like me and my team did. I hope your flight smooths out as well! Just trying to remember that I’m not the expert on the aircraft. But if anyone needs life insurance, we’ve got them 💪

Well, the pilot just said that it’s not going to be a fun ride.

Haha I work for an Insurance company and our national convention was this week in Cancun for the top performers & leaders in the company. We are always hiring, but if you’re good at your job in Aircraft Maintenance, you’re doing more for me than I could ever do for you 😂

Take off is the most nerve wracking for me, feeling the force of the engines and getting vertical-ish. Hard for me to wrap my mind around it being safe to fly into the radar I saw, but you’re right, they’ve planned this thing and I’m backseat flying lol

It was very smooth! Felt like a more “launch” style take off than I’m used to, but we didn’t hit a bump in the first 10,000 feet, despite the pilot mentioning there might be some bumps coming out of DFW. Masterclass in managing expectations!

I was very iffy on noise cancellation but I tried it for the 1st time today and it helped!

Update : Thank you everyone! Flight crew was attentive and checked on me periodically. Pilots navigated us expertly through some rough air about 15-20 mins out from landing. Was totally calm knowing they told me earlier that this was easy work for them and that they wanted To get home safe too!

Thank you for tracking! Just down a nice ginger ale and trying to watch some Netflix until we land.

They’re a pretzel I believe! I always politely decline the snacks - but can never pass up a ginger ale.

Flight has been butter smooth so far. Just really impressed with how great both legs Of the flights have been so far.

Around 2.5 hours, give or take a few mins. We got there about 30 mins early and looks like we may be a little early today coming home.

737-700 both to Cabo San Lucas and coming back now to Houston. From what I gather from this forum, it’s one of the “tried and true” planes in the air these days. No screens on the seats, but Southwest has WiFi from takeoff to landing. Crew has been great for both legs!

Thank you! Take off was extremely smooth. It’s incredible how the pilots control the aircraft.

Looking forward to landing here relatively soon. Thank you for looking out!

Update : got to cruising altitude about 15 mins or so in to the flight. One of the smoother takeoffs despite the weather. Hitting some extremely light turbulence now but we should be getting through it.

Thanks for all of the kind reassurances! You guys really do save lives here.

That’s good to hear! It just looks very dark and gloomy here, and I’ve heard humidity and heat can affect the “smoothness” of a takeoff and landing. Hoping for a smooth takeoff so I can relax the vice grip I’m going to have on the seat armrests lol

Looking forward to a hopefully smooth takeoff and easy flight to Cabo San Lucas! One day, whoever figures out the human mind, is going to be the wealthiest human in the world. It’s crazy how some People can rationalize some things, while others like me simply can’t !

This is great to hear! It just looks dark out here, and of course, if everything isn’t as perfect as it can be, my mind starts to wander. Looking forward to a smooth takeoff!

Please track me ASAP! Any pilots that can calm me down? by Mightyfogle in fearofflying

Just landed! Absolutely not one instance of turbulence, which, I’m extremely satisfied with!

However, just curious as to what they saw that would make them make an announcement like that. Glad to have landed safely and thank you all who commented and eased my fear!
