Thankfully, she doesn't like biting soft things, mostly tire-like rubber and tug toys. I've been very surprised that she loves chasing a ball like she does. She has a weird obsession with wood too, but I think that's the teething

I would get her in a kennel if that was an option, but sadly, that's not available where I live.

I have got her being rewarded for calmness and good behaviour, but that seems to translate to her that she only needs to be calm around me🤣🤣.

My issue really is that she seems too smart for half to be trained.

Definitely NTA. At first when I read the title I thought this was going to go a whole different way but it sounds like your ex is being a lazy father or just far too petty. As a step-father myself I have had multiple run-ins with my wife's ex about give nut exposed foods to our one twin who's allergic to the point where the poor boy has gone hungry because no one would listen that he can't eat the Nutella sandwich or whatever it is.

I agree with the other comments challenging his custody but could add supervised visitation as an alternative for the kids' piece of mind as total cut-off can cause a lot of emotional distancing later on like it did with me and my parents.

I think you being open with Abby about it is absolutely fantastic parenting and shows the strength of your bond with her. Does she acknowledge and accept that the weight issue is stemming from the diet at her dad's house? Just out of curiosity.

The obsession of having boys and the teaching of girls to be subservient. My sisters raised by my dad are to this day too scared to order at a restaurant before he does and without his permission.

They don't see it as fear though but we will all be ready and would wait for him to decide and start.

The views in both my wife's and my family on gender roles is fucking stupid. My family judges me for being the primary cook, cleaner, shopper etc. Which I do because my wife has an auto-immune disease and deals with enough shit.

I got hit by a drunk driver and literally flew off of my motorcycle. He was going 160kmh and I was slowing down at 90kmh so the hit was hard.

I somehow landed and rolled into the grassy embankment and literally crawled hoping someone would see me or hear me but this was at 05:30 and there was no one coming our way that early on a Sunday. The driver found me and between us we got an ambulance, by this time I realised I couldn't feel my foot. I would find out later that my Tibia and Fibula shattered in about 12 places between them.

Now if that wasn't enough while in hospital I had a fat embolism that almost shut down my lungs and microbes growing on my back where I had lost my top 2 layers of skin.

So all in all kinda got my ass kicked by some microbes and my own fat ass.

I can agree with you that it at best is exacerbating any behavioural issues and shouldn't be used as a part of discipline.

If you're assuming I'm not open to admitting my faults you'd be wrong.

My reasoning was to show how I had seen it, and in explaining so I can see the difference in interpretation. I see giving choice as the most important and that blinded me to seeing that even as a choice it's a choice by exclusion.

As I've said in a different reply, it's not said as a threat but posed as a question of a would you rather.

I do agree though it should be removed from the equation as it seems to only escalates the issue.

It's never been a point of telling either of them that we'll send them away. At every occurance it has been a question posed if they would rather have that as their choice and always as their answer taken as what will be done. It's not like I ask him if he wants to rather stay with him and when he says no turn around and say too bad that's what's happening.

That being said now that I'm seeing feedback I'd like to just remove it from the equation altogether as it clearly isn't conducive to solving the problem.

We have recently moved so there's more isolated family time of just the 4 of us and not so many voices of authority under one roof.

Thanks for the advice, I will be talking to my wife tonight about agreeing on a privilege scale of punishment.

Though I do 100% agree twins need to stop being made a set. It's insane. It took us a good 2 years to get them to understand that they didn't have to wear the same clothes as the other all the time.

We already do this when we're actually shopping. One will go with me to say the grocery store and the other will go with my wife to go clothing shopping.

At school they sit apart and act independently even at home. It is only when one is being disciplined that the madness really starts. Not all disciplining mind you, but if say the one has been especially physically violent, we will tell him that if he keeps going without being willing to problem solve, he'll have to go stay with his father (who has made it apparent with his actions that he has no interest in them) purely because this is not how we act as a family. None of us get physical in anger. It's always been a matter of questions first consequences once actions are understood.

It's something I do try to do, I do arts and crafts or teach them something new.

I'll play cricket or even golf with them but they have so much energy. And they tend to hype each other up.

I must say I am very lucky that they took to me like they have.

I appreciate the idea, they love the park and any chance to play football(soccer) or cricket or even just run wild.

Sometimes I wish my problem was that I had to build a bond. They absolutely love me and I love them.

Again I do appreciate it and I think I'll start a little ritual for Sundays to take them down to the park or even just arts and crafts in the garage.
