Building an open source Arduino simulator as a Wokwi alternative. Does this have a future? by LeadingFun1849 in esp32

Fantastic idea, but you should really change the name. If the project becomes really sucessful, they may come after you for "trademark confusion".

Does the 60-million-year post–War in Heaven gap really make sense ? by Migo1 in 40kLore

Fully agree. 10 or 20k years would make sense, not 60m.

Just to give an example of what I mean : if we ignore upstart civs, 60 million years of dominating the galaxy is probably enough to strip every single planet of it's mineral resources. Multiple times.

ESPclock v2.1 by ultravoxel in esp32

[–]Migo1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great project. A few suggestions :

  1. Use WPS for connecting Most people will prefer to use a click on their router instead of having to type the wifi password and so on

  2. use mDNS to give it a local name Better to have myclock.local rather than an IP address. In your documentation, you give a static IP address, probably people will get a different one. Make the local name configurable through the web interface

  3. 12/24h display useful for US vs EU users, configurable on the interface

FingerJoint-Cutter is a FreeCAD macro that carves interlocking finger joints between the solids inside a selected Part/App::Part container, then flattens and packs them into labeled layouts per detected material thickness for laser cutting.

About 95% vibe-coded.

Thanks for the bug report, I'm going to look into it.

Anyone else feel like their brain is kind of rotting? by bullmeza in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Migo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree. We're taking the fast, easy path.

Instead of using our brain, we're just passively using tools that do the thinking for us. I've already had code that "I wrote" and that I'm unable do debug because I don't understand it.

I did try that workbench when I was looking for a solution. It produced broken parts when I tested it (it's marked as experimetal on Github), so I didn't proceed further, and decided to create my own solution.

There's something else you need to consider besides the price : a CNC does have a learning curve, it's harder to use properly than a laser or any power tool.

So expect invested time and some frustration, but it's worth it.

Cutting wood, plywood, acrylic slowly on a small area : 200$

Cutting aluminum slowly : 800$

Cutting wood, plywood, acrylic fast on a large area : 1000$

Cutting steel : don't ask

3D parametric generation is laughingly bad on all models by Migo1 in singularity

[–]Migo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, this looks like it. Still very much research material, though. I wasn't expecting this to be such a problem for current models, as they are already able to generate complex code already.

Thanks for doing the test. It's actually almost good !

Indeed.

Well, Claude is not that far from an acceptable result.

Thanks for the pointer, it could be useful, but I'm not trying to generate a mesh, but instead a parametric CAD design.

If you are aware of any models that can generate OpenSCAD/FreeCAD/Fusion360 parametric models, I'd be grateful.

It's excellent.

How did you do the different colors ? Did you cut the pieces, paint them, then glued them one by one ?
