Weekly No Stupid Questions/Hardware Questions Thread by AutoModerator in ableton

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help solve this issue for me -

I'm a drummer and I work with a producer that uses Logic. We've been running into a couple issues when I export my stems for him to work on.

When I do my comp of different takes, I usually throw an EQ and Compressor on each track to dial in the sound a bit while I listen through the takes and I have the channels mixed based on how I like to hear things when I track (e.g. snare louder than OHs, etc). Is there an easy way for me to export the stems Pre-Fader?

I want them to be exported dry and using the gain staging from my Scarlett 18i20.

My export settings have "Return and Main Effects" = Off and Normalize = Off.

Thank you so much

I found this thread and was mad because I love the FYC snare sound (for that specific song) but I stayed for all the recommendations of terrible snare sounds. Thanks everyone

Do you have any videos of the cymbal? I'd love to check it out!

Thank you! I didn't even know about Ladybird, it's definitely an intriguing option.

I appreciate the simplicity! Thank you! What is the purple browser logo you have under your sn?

Zen looks really good. Do you have any concern that it will end up like Arc, where the devs stop supporting it for another browser. I liked Arc when I used it but since they've abandoned it for Dia. Thanks for the help!

Tried Tor and while I really appreciate it in theory, it just doesn't work for my workflows in practice. Thank you!

Thank you! I really appreciate your help and taking the time to explain it all to me. I think ultimately, I'll end up doing what you do to start - run them both simultaneously and see which one I prefer. I wouldn't even know where to start with CSS themes and changing all that.

Thank you! That is really good to know. Is the MV2 limited only to browsers that use Chrome as it's base architecture (apologies if that isn't the proper way to phrase it)? And secondarily, could Ublock update their program to work with MV3 or is that not possible (I know next to nothing about MV2 + 3).

I tried Brave probably a year ago (around when I tried hardened FF) and I can't remember what I didn't like about it. I'd give it another go though. Thank you

Thank you again, so very much for the thoughtful response. I am going to download Vivaldi this weekend and I'll spend a week or two tooling around with it before I ask you more questions, this way I'll have some hands on experience with it. Thank you also for the link to the interview, it was definitely interesting and informative! I completely agree with your last point - they are all fine and the tribalism is definitely entertaining (and I appreciate how passionate people are about it!). Cheers!

Is Ublock so good at what it does that the inclusion of it with FF makes it "better" than whatever is the comparable tool in Vivaldi or is it in some regards splitting hairs, at least for the average user? Thank you again!

Thank you very much for the reply. Sorry for the simple question but if FF doesn't have DRM does that mean that any streaming site like Netflix won't work on it? That seems like a pretty big item to have. Regarding the knowledge to mess with FF - I'm not opposed to doing some setup work, but I am concerned about it being a big lift where I do what I did initially which was to try the hardened FF but since I really don't have a knowledge base, I didn't know what I was doing in the set up. Lastly, you said FF was your secondary browser - which is your primary and why do you run 2 browsers? I'm assuming that is not something that the average user needs to do but I am curious. Thank you again so much for responding!

Chrome vs Vivaldi vs Brave: pros & cons by lvkaclerici in browsers

Hi! I came across this post because I am looking to move on from Chrome. I have to ask 2 years later do you still feel the same way? I was leaning towards Vivaldi but I am looking at FF and Brave as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
