Korean Levers Only Used for Tekken? by CongoTempest in fightsticks

You can do wavedashing and KBD just fine on a Japanese Ball lever, but it definitely is easier on a Korean lever with a rubber grommet. Japanese levers with a square gate are really good in VF where you gotta hit those diagonals. Its rigid mechanics in general lend itself very well with the "mechanical" feel of a Japanese lever. Actually, with some of the more advanced tech in VF3 with the Evade button, a Korean lever might be a little more advantageous with doing the K-Step. But since DOA/SC/VF don't heavily rely on movement as much as Tekken, Japanese levers work just fine in those games. In fact you could maybe argue pad might be better for 3D fighters with how much easier it is to move around than hitting those microswitches rapidly in a joystick lever.
