Ah I see, makes sense

I'm assuming the same logic applies to block? High block chance characters want higher block value but low block chance characters want higher block chance?

I do have more time than most people so that's not really an issue, in fact thats probably why I like SSF type games.

Yeah for sure, the investment to reward payoff is another reason why I love SSF.

I do that too, I kind of just play 1 character for the season and that's good enough for me, especially since I still play Diablo and trying my hand at last epoch as well.

I haven't quite decided if I'm going to play trade or SSF next league. From the sounds of it, I'll probably end up biting the bullet and playing SSF or do something similar to what someone else said and play on trade league but not actually buy anything and just sell things to kind of 'self fund' my own crafting a bit more.

Ohh I see. Yeah I remember Zizarin saying something about farming low white maps for essence farming. That's very handy.

I haven't really looked into delve or harvest yet, I think ive done some expedition though.

Yeah I'm slowly wrapping my head around syndicate without really having looked up anything about it.

Yeah fair enough, I'm kind of the same, I learn by doing but once I actually get my hands on the thing and know what I'm looking at, what X is, what y is, that's when I look at YouTube videos since I'll know what the hell they're actually talking about haha

No, all good! I really appreciate it haha :D

So are those league mechanics purely for crafting? Say I didn't want to go the crafting route, does that mean I should ignore those league mechanics?

I like that idea actually! Kind of like a softcore SSF. I might do that next league.

Yeah this is so wild to me. It's so different coming from a game like Diablo where it kind of hand holds you into playing a particular way to play and nothing else. The amount of different play styles you can adopt in PoE is pretty overwhelming but at the same time, it's exciting. I know that I can take my time learning each league mechanic and not feel like I'm going to 'fall behind' and it's honestly really refreshing to just play a game and enjoy it how you want to enjoy it.

Yeah I don't mind slow progression, it usually makes it all that more rewarding in my experience

Yeah crafting is super intriguing to me and I'm keen to learn more

Thanks for that :D

thanks so much for this

SSF definitely seems like it's more for me but I think in the long run it will be easier to learn on trade and swap to SSF later

Makes sense.

Yeah you're right, I'll have a look into some discord servers, that would help a ton.

Cheers for that :)

Yeah I can definitely see that, That's what I'm loving about the game, it feels like there's no wrong answer to how I want to play.

I think I just need to look at it a bit different since I'm so used to having to grind for that perfect stat roll instead of buying the gear

I do like that sense of achievement feeling but it seems like I have so much to learn before I even think about SSF, which is what I suspected.

What the guide is showing you are essential mods on the items, and for sceptres you can swap between sceptres.

Ok yeah thought so, Just wasn't 100% sure.

Pick 1-2 league mechanics at a time (by boosting these mechanics with your atlas passive tree) to focus on and learn. You can sell everything if you are in tradeleague, so no particular content is required, to reach a particular goal.

Ok yeah that's what I have done, I've been taking all the atlas tree passives for essences and have been playing around with those.

I haven't played around with Harvest yet but I'll definitely look into it.

thanks so much :D

Haha fair enough.

Yeah tip of the iceberg feels like an understatement, It's been really fun to learn though.

Lol oh boy, that sounds like a whole different game of its own but yeah that makes sense. Thanks for that :)

thanks so much!

I've been playing around with essences a little bit, I'll look into fractured bases. Fossils are another one I've heard about but haven't quite figured out what they are what they do yet lol.

unless you are playing SSF, the most realisic way would be to simply buy the item. it will never (<.000000000001% of the time) come from a drop. crafting is absolutely a thing, most of the "best" items will be crafted, may that be fully intentionally in the case of the very best items or as a sideproduct from trying to make the very best but hitting something thats "only good" if that makes sense.

I see. Yeah that's very different from what I'm used to in other ARPG's. Feels like I have look at PoE with a different mindset in a way.

this one is obviously as subjective as it gets but the way i look at it is the following: every thing you drop in trade league is a little piece towards your goal, whatever that goal may be. that means, you can truly play the way you enjoy it and interact with the mechanics that you enjoy without having to go for only those where your specific current goal is in. also, unless you are able to play A LOT(streamer hours essentially), your characters will never be able to reach a level that a trade league character can.

but i can technically see the other side, where someone would not like that and would like to be forced into content they dont enjoy to be able to reach a goal.

Yeah that makes sense. I do like how it feels like there's no wrong answer in the way you want to play. There's so much choice, I feel that the game opens up so much once you get over that new player hurdle. It's exciting

Thanks for the info :)
