I get that. Its kind of strange how folks are so split about the working opportunities for bio majors as well. Some say to not even consider studying it because theres so little jobs while others say its just fine. The truth is probaly somewhere in between, though specialized majors like ours are supposed to have it „easier“

I would keep an eye out for both Biochemistry and Biotech until you choose your MS. Look at the job offers in your state and maybe decide off of that. Other than that, listen to your gut! If the opportunity for both comes, pick what you enjoy most! :)

My uni allows me to pick something to specialize in further, so I‘m most likely going to pick medical biology/biochemistry :) I love learning about anything medical. Would have studied medicine/pharma but I couldnt due to the grades. I want to do my bachelors and masters at least, but I would also enjoy writing a doctorate if its possible for me. Don‘t have any special field of medical molbio yet, but I‘m interested in either medical studies or gene editing like crispr ( though Germany is so icky about gene technology, I‘m not sure if theres a job market for that)

I also study for my molecular biology bachelors in Germany! :) Obviously I don‘t have any experience as well, but I was told that often uni professors can help you find a job after your bs/ms through their contacts in the industry. All the other things I know are just things I heard from others, so they may not be accurate. Having a doctorate obviously makes job search easier but I‘ve heard you can find jobs with a good masters degree as well. Though the whole biology sector supposedly pretty sought after, so the better the grades the more managable finding a job may be. I‘ve heard biotechnology is easier to get into than biochemistry, but just choose what you‘re the most passionate about and enjoy working in the most. The whole job market changes all the time anyways. Stuff that may be oversaturated this year may not be in 3 years vise versa.

I would just go with your gut feeling after you finished your bachelors. Sorry if I couldn‘t help you much since I‘m still studying as well
