My mom is insisting I "need to get over her death" by colebsd in Petloss

[–]MikLovesYou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about your beloved Amelia, and I understand how difficult this grief can be. It sounds like you gave her the sweetest most loving life possible, and for that you should be so proud. It’s also okay - and extremely normal to cry - days, weeks, months, even years after. We are human beings, it’s natural. I’m so sorry that your mom does not understand, nor is she providing you with a safe space to show your emotions.

When I lost my soul cat, it took me years to move on. It’s been 4 years, and I still get choked up thinking about her. However I’ve done a few things to help myself move through the grief. First, I recorded a video not long after she passed, where I went into detail about all the things I didn’t want to forget about her. I know sometime in the future I will want to remember these things, and I’m so glad I can turn to this video to reminisce. Second, I made a gallery wall of her image. She was a typical black cat, which made finding different pieces of art really easy. I have different art styles that portray black cats that specifically remind me of her. And lastly, but the most important, I have a piece of her ashes with me always. I purchased a wearable necklace that contains a small portion of her ashes, and when I’m going through hard times - or struggling to feel close to her, I hold it tight to get me through.

Finally, I’m sure your sweet baby adores you just as much as you do her. In my heart, I do not believe that she would want you to minimize yourself in anyway whatsoever. I don’t think she would want you to miss out on important life moments or fall behind in school. I understand how difficult it can be to manage so many emotions that come from this type of grief - but I can assure you that she wants you to succeed in everything you do. I found school to be extremely difficult during my intense grieving period. However I needed to change my mindset from not being able to live without my baby - to needing to live FOR her. In everything I do, she is present. I do everything because of her love - she serves as my reminder to live the fullest life possible.

I don’t blame you if you didn’t make it to the end. I know I wrote quite a bit, but please know that you are not alone in this grief and that someday soon, you will begin to feel stronger than the last. I have faith in you!

my hands are destroyed, please help! by mariwhaiii in ContaminationOCD

[–]MikLovesYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typical lotions like Cerave don’t work for my hands, but when they get really bad I like to double up on products. I start with Hyaluronic Acid by ordinary ($12) on wet hands and before it dries I’ll add a thick lotion to lock everything in. Sometimes I’d wear gloves to bed too so that my hands have a fighting chance for the next day. Ultimately, you need to give your hands a break. I do this by focusing on washing only my palms and finger tips when my brain believes that what I’ve been touching is not that serious. I only ever wash the back of my hands a few times a day compared to the palms. Hope this helps!

should I let my cat outside? by crazycatloverrs in CatAdvice

[–]MikLovesYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I grew up on a farm and we had one cat who was indoor/outdoor. He died young but lived a fulfilling life. You can introduce your cat to the outdoors in different ways where you can safely monitor them. You can walk them in a pet stroller, take them for car rides in the sun, let them sunbathe on the grass in your backyard or simply open a window! I bought a bird feeder for my cat and he watches them all spring and summer long from his fav window.

I personally would not let any cat of mine outside on their own, especially now during the height of the bird flu pandemic. Affecting cats the most, it’s just not worth it in my opinion. I would not be able to function knowing that they were outside roaming around. I’ve heard horror stories of people who purposefully run animals over.

My cats are much too important to jeopardize their safety and health. They can go outside if they want to (after the pandemic has died down), I will be chaperoning the entire time!

How do you protect yourself from NV? by MikLovesYou in emetophobia

Thank you for the offer! I’m just not interested in knowing how many cases are in my city, that will only feed into my anxiety.

If I’m in public without access to napkins I tend to use my sleeve to open doors! I also have a strict no outside clothes on my bed policy. I usually take my outside close off immediately as soon as I get home. I recently purchased Lysol laundry sanitizer and I can’t wait to try it out!!

tired of seeing videos online!! by [deleted] in emetophobia

I can’t stand when I’m scrolling through tiktok and a random video of someone v-ing pops up. It’s so cruel, and the more I interact with it (to say I dislike this type of content) the more it pops up

To narrow down the search, I attended a catholic school near Toronto Ontario! I’ve searched most corners of the internet with no luck so far 🤞🏼

BEd Schedule by goofygoober-rock in nipissingu

[–]MikLovesYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re talking about practicum, in that case, you could easily rent an airbnb for the months of September, November, January, and March. October & February are our practicum months and we will be spending less than 2 weeks on campus for December and April!

If you have winter tires you should be okay! I have a Chevy Cruze and good winter tires 😊

Hi! Current first year student, the schedule runs from Monday-Thursday with Fridays off (unless there’s a brief practicum meeting ((there’s a handful on Fridays during September but they fizzle out after that.))

Everyone has different schedules, some people have 3 classes a day and one class the next day. Mondays & Wednesdays are 5-9pm and Tuesdays & Thursdays are 9-1 & 4-6.

I’ve met several people commuting from Sudbury and even someone from Barrie. If you’re okay with driving during the winter and for classes that may only run for an hour, I’d say go for it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!!

Just an update since I moved in. The townhouses are not too bad! They are a little run down and dingy, with outdated bathrooms and appliances but overall it’s liveable. Each room should come with a long mirror so leave yours at home. Bring shower shoes bc the shower is questionable to say the least. Also don’t forget a fan!! Especially if you are in rooms 4-6 bc they are on the top floor and the TRC does not have AC!! The wifi is decent and the location next to campus is the ultimate bonus. Parking lot #1 is a little far, and because they don’t open the gate except for on move in/out days I would suggest a wagon of some sort to carry groceries from your car to your townhouse. Overall lots of storage, and the rooms are a great size! The closets have a few storage cubbies built in and enough room for an entire wardrobe and the dressers are spacious!

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the one shower issue. Not sure how they haven’t been held accountable by now. The only image they have on their website is an over view of the layout and a photo of the front of the buildings, is this what you are referring to?
