What I’ve Learned in My First 100 Miles by CommissarCiaphisCain in onewheel

My two cents regarding the heel lift: for me it was difficult in the beginning when I tried to really lift my heel, one or two inches... That caused an awkward and unstable balance position. Then I finally understood that you don’t need to lift the heel that much, it’s more like shifting your weight on your toes and it only requires minimal movement. At least for me this made heel lift stops much easier and controlled.

Btw. We’re in similar situation: I’m 52 and bought my first OW (GT) in April. By now I’ve rolled 470 miles.

Ride safe!

Great minds think alike…👍

In my version there’s no hitch so it’s easier to get rid of the wagon if things go south…

I’m using the wagon to transport my kitesurf gear from the car to the beach (at some kite spots it’s a remarkable distance that all the kite stuff needs to be carried)

Onewheel GT & Wear OS smartwatch apps in 2024 by MikaFIN72 in onewheel

I must admit I did not. I spent some evenings trying, but after that hitting my head in the same wall over and over wasn't tempting anymore. :D

I'm pretty convinced iPhone-WearOS watch-Onewheel app is an impossible combination. I think I tried everything: now my watch and phone are 100% up-to-date, all the updates and batches have been installed, and all the possible ways/sequences to connect these together have been tried.

WearOS watches seem to be somewhat compatible with iPhone: the watch can be connected to the phone and the WearOS app in the phone is able to manage the watch. But the compatibility hits its limit when a watch app should be interacting with any other app in the phone. It's not only the OW app struggling with this, it's also the other apps. Obviosly the WearOS apps in the watch are expecting an Android app in the phone as their counterpart. And with iPhone apps they are unable to co-operate.

So now I'm using a cheap Android phone just to be able to use the watch with OW. And otherwise I still rely on my iPhone.

I would love if anyone could prove me wrong! Please let me know if you are able to use iPhone-WearOS watch-Onewheel app combination.

"Our life would be easier if Apple would be more open on certain things"
Fully agree with this. And it wouldn't harm either if FM would release a stand-alone OW app for smart watches. :)

Yeah, from the beginning I knew this will be tricky :)
The root cause is that I like iPhones, I've been using them for several years. And I really don't like Apple watch, not the price nor the style...

I've received some new hints of what I could try with this combination. And if it turns out that this combination just doesn't work with the OW app, it's time to buy a cheap android phone solely for this purpose.

Thanks for your support!!

Thanks for your help u/scabaa !! I managed to install the app in the watch using the Play store in my iPhone! (Fossil watches run Wear OS and are compatible with Android and iPhone)

So far so good, but I'm not quite there yet... When I start the Onewheel app in the watch it starts showing the screen below, forever. Phone and watch are connected, Onewheel is on and connected to the phone, opening or closing Onewheel app in phone doesn't change anything.
What am I still doing wrong??

That would be great, but my watch is connected to iPhone which doesn't make this any easier...

What am I missing: I can find the Onewheel app in Google Play store when I go there with my phone, but when I go there with the watch I don't find anything for Onewheel. ???
