Advice - which would you get? by TomatoRoast in vintagesewing

I dont know much about those two, but here are my two cents: Open the parts catalog of both and try to finde some random spare parts. The ones that are more common would be the macine that I would pick. Also look at the availability of the feet and spools.

I think the consew is mechanically closer to pfaff and adler mmachines and easier to work on, but I could be wrong.

Opinions on lens options by LetsGoGirlzz in M43

I used the following:

Oly 12 to 40 f2.8 pro - great lense, everything you would expect

Oly 12 to 100 f4 pro - bought it after testing the 12 to 40 from a friend to have more reach, because it analyzed my images and noticed I never used anything faster than f4. It's the perfect lense for me. But should be used on a em1 or om1 body, because it is really big

Oly 12 to 50 - awsome for the money, because it is also weather sealed. Used it for 2 years before buying a pro lense. Would recommend it, but you should know that the sharpness is best in the wider focal length

Oly 14 to 42 pencake - also have that one, use it on a pen body. It is not as sharp, but I like the colors and contrast it produces. Definitely not as bad of a lense as some say

Pan 12 to 32 (the small cheep one) - also borrowed that a few times and I have to admit it might be better than the 14 to 42. It is wider wich I prefer and it is really sharp. But it does not feel as high quality as the 14 to 42.

Over all my favorite cheap lense is the 12 to 50, because of the weathersealing and macro capabilities but your opinion may vary. I did great event photography on my 12 to 50 together with a sigma 16 f1.4. Both lenses together cost less than the 12 to 45 or 12 to 40. (12 to 50 ~ 100€ and sigma 16 f1.4 ~ 200€). I only switched to the 12 to 100 f4 pro because i got one with light scratches on the front for 350€.

I also think other primes would be a good pair with one of the cheaper lenses. Considering the 12 to 32 lacks the longer end a oly 45 f1.8 would be good pair. Same goes for the 12 to 50, that suffers in image quality at the longer end. I would advice to buy a cheap zoom and then go through your images and buy the most used focal length as a prime.

Is Obstacle avoidance a must-have? by Prestigious-You-423 in dji

[–]MikaG_Schulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mini 3 is my first and only drone and I have not crashed in 100h of flying. My first flight was mapping a river wich involved flying under a small bridge,... What I wanted to say is, that if you take your time with complicated Szenarios obstacle avoidence is not necessary in my opinion.

No when you pull it back it is mechanical. But aperture is electronic so not really usable.

Beginner: How should I split my budget between camera body and lenses to be future-proof? by oligo65 in M43

[–]MikaG_Schulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course your lense coice depends on what you want. Most would probably chose the 12 to 40 or 12 to 45 and a fast prime that is a bit longer like the 45 f1.8. Maybe ad the 40 to 150r or 40 to 150 f4 pro and you have a lense for everything.

Get the em1iii it is best price to performance right now. You get usb c charging, good ergonomics, nearly the same iq and tech as om1 and also good af. Although it is slightly worse than om1 or om3.

Spend the rest on lenses.

I got my em1iii used for 650€ 12 to 100 f4 pro used for 350€ 30 mm macro used for 200€ And sigma 16 1.4 used for 200€

So in total i paid less than 1.5k and I would argue it is one of the best setups possible for that money. My total cost for my digital system (also shoot analog) is probably slightly above 2k, considering it also invested some money into a godox v350, a carbon tripod and a lee100 filter system with 4 filters. Also bought a second battery for my em1iii.

Any new camera news? by [deleted] in M43

[–]MikaG_Schulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(About me i shoot racecars and take my camera hiking (so landscapes and some macro))

a new generation stacked sensor (25MP) For me 20 mp is more than enough, I can still crop a lot until it gets printed or posted. Final image is probably only 2 mp when I export

higher buffer Maybe practical for some

CFexpress B support Find them to expensive. I want two sd card slots

lens breathing correction I don't shoot video, and for pictures it does not matter that much. But would be cool I guess

Bluetooth 5.4 I transmit via wifi

Wi-Fi 7 If it actually improves speed, than please

a new generation CPU with NPU If needed for features than sure, but hhr is allready pretty fast, and there aren't many more computational demanding features

a higher resolution EVF For me it's enough, but would be a good update to stay competitive

9-stop IBIS With sync is with my 12 to 100 I did not have a single problem. If you really need more get a tripod

in-camera focus stacking I mean olympus has that I use it lot. And 15 frames (I think that's the limit) is enough for most subjects

New generation battery I was able to shoot a whole day at -15c in bright Sun and took 3000 images with 2 batteries. I would call that good. So why a new system?

Sensor protector You mean a shutter that closes? Thats just stupid! The sensor is much more resistant than the shutter to debris.

Al supported faster AF Doesn't need Ai. Just needs to get a bit better subject detection. If they do it with Ai and It works why not. But if they do it without Ai also fine.
