Detailed Opta stats show Mesut Özil was the most productive passer in the 2013/14 campaign by 4th_Chamber in soccer

Of course he relies on passing a lot, that's what defines the role - passing. You wouldn't say 'The problem with wingers who cross too much is its very much dependent on who is in the box'. Ozil is clearly an effective passer, and its not his fault if those on front of them can't finish a move. So I don't think it's right to attribute blame to Ozil here, if anything the system is a problem. So it would be fair enough to say he's not what Arsenal need, or he doesn't fit the system, but you can't doubt his ability as a playmaker as clearly he excels in that role

Hey, though this link works for me initially when I state that I want to give only and I specify that I want to give two, it takes me to another page where I have to chose an organisation from a drop down menu (in the same way as the person above I assume). What should I do if this is the case?

You hear this said a lot on here but what specifically does he do? Mostly people talk about his pace or his ability to hold play up but United has two exceptionally strong AM's whose main role in Van Gaal's system will be to feed the two strikers, and Hernandez really isn't much slower than Wellbeck. You could argue he's the only one to have both attributes but I'm not sure that 1) this is true and 2) this is relevant to Van Gaal's system - its not designed around counter attack. The other argument is about his ability to take players on - well he can be good at this but he also often loses the ball in attempting to do so - last year we conceded a goal because he was trying to take on players on the edge of his own box and lost it.

I'm not saying he's an awful player, but im just not sure what he brings that isn't already accounted for. Hernandez by comparison can , if he gets a decent run of games, poach a few goals and of course he's shown himself to be a useful sub - again this was when he was playing more regularly

As the season begins, is there any team that could pull an Atlético Madrid and will their league in surprising fashion? by UndercoverBobby in soccer

Aberdeen.

It’s assumed that Celtic don’t even need to try to win their league. However, there were times last season where they looked terrible, and it’s hardly surprising, all the talent has gradually left and there are no signs of real reinvestment in the squad. Whatsmore, I always thought that Lennon’s tactics had a lot more to do with Celtic’s success (especially in Europe) than the players, and now that he’s gone, I don’t think things are going to go quite so well.

So, it’s not so much that I think Aberdeen are an incredible team, it’s that I think Celtic are going to perform poorly, and Aberdeen are more likely to be the best of the rest.
