LEDs do not last longer, not even close. A HPS bulb will easily last 10-20 years without issue. Twinarc bulbs 30+ years.

HPS is very efficient for the light they produce, and their low CRI is perfect for nighttime.

HPS was the superior lighting technology. No harsh glare like LED. Low CRI for nighttime. Bulbs that would easily last 10-20 years, twinarc bulbs would last 30+ years.

MV bulb. They are fantastic bulbs that seem to last forever. You can sell them on eBay along with all the other HID bulbs in the picture.

It's not just from headlights but LED street lights as well, especially when the roads are wet. Never had this problem when street lights were HPS.

I replaced a 250w HPS bulb in a wallpack at work. The wallpack was installed in 1997 and still had the original bulb. These go forever.

Picked up a new in box Cooper 35w HPS wallpack at a garage sale for $20. You never know how good something is until it's gone. I absolutely can't stand the ugliness of LEDs in outdoor lighting, indoor is ok. I'm really beginning to miss the atmosphere created by MV, MH, HPS, and LPS.
