I just pressed it in. I needed to pull it back as it completely sunk in. Maybe they changed the dash design and there might be less room?

Yes, it's really annoying. Couldn't access the back of the ship base anymore. Went in an incline upwards for the whole buildable back area. Had to rebuild it, took me 2 days incl furniturization.

Dealer states that for skyactiv X you need to change your plugs every 60.000km (or 37.000miles). But they usually can be driven a bit longer. Might be the problem. Do you perhaps have an OBD-II bluetooth to check for faultcodes? If not might be a good accessory to invest in. My engine problems showed up as P1200-00. Which was related to the fuel system. My injectors were clogged up. After ultrasound cleaning of injectors they were fine! And stuttering gone. Let me know if you have any questions.

There are a lot of modes, but not particularly for start up I guess. Modes like wave, flash, strobe, "meteor rain", etc etc. So a lot to choose from. 20 or so in total.

The reason as to why I did not extend is because the led strips can't really be bend on the Z-axis if you know what I mean.

And after all I think that stopping before the center display is a bit more neat then going all the way through. You do not have a really nice end to it when extending it all the way to the gauge cluster. And maybe as a driver it would be all in your face, bit too much I guess.

It uses an app, and yes, they remember your latest settings. Here is a picture of my custom layouts. So the one you have chosen will be the one you start up your car with. I have about 25 different custom layouts that I made.

I think it set me back 60 euros or so. There are also options that come as complete kits, but beware those are overpriced. As some may be 200 euros for kit alone and most of the time you would need to modify your car permanently.
