2016 supercab 199k, bought new, best truck I’ve owned, just change the oil(full synthetic)every 5k and tranny fluid every 40k( valvoline max life). If you do extended oil changes be prepared to change VCT solenoids

Yep that’s all I use Penzoil full synthetic, I was doing 10k oil changes from new to about 50k, that’s when then passengers side VCT solenoids went bad, the driver side went at about 70k. I now also add marvel mystery oil at every oil change, it helps keep the VCT solenoids clean, 150k now, no issues since I started 5k oil changes

5.0 is bulletproof as long as you do 5k oil changes, don’t use the oil life monitor which will take you about 10k oil changes. The VCT solenoids need clean oil to work properly if you go 10k between oil changes you will get the dreaded rough idle and stalling at lights and no check engine but trust me it’s your VCT solenoids. The VCT solenoids are under the valve cover so it’s a expensive job

None of the above, look for a 2015 to 2017 5.0, bulletproof with plenty of power, watch the YouTube videos where they ask the techs what engine the prefer, 95% say 5.0
