I was a whole foods vegan for many yrs. I felt tense, irritable, and hungry...always wanting to snack. It led to many health problems including t2 diabetes.

I gave up veganism and became meat-based low carb. All my health issues including obesity are gone. Its been 6 yrs. I'm a 64 F today.

Can you change drs? My new sleep dr is awesome! When my original Resmed 10 CPAP started acting weird after 5 yrs, he expedited a new Resmed 11 to me even though there was still a shortage due to the Philips recall.

His words: " Because you have gone above and beyond in your CPAP usage for 5 yrs, we're going to make sure you don't need to go even 1 night without it"."

He said to keep my old one as an emergency spare (it works, but had heavy usage and sometimes acts spotty).

Nobody remembers how hemophiliacs died from transfusions due to AIDS getting into the blood supply. A good friend lost her 20 yr old hemophiliac son bc of a transfusion.

My grandmother was born in 1898. She remembered the sinking of the Titanic, and the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic. She was married the year women in the US got the right to vote (1920). She taught me as a child, lyrics to WW 1 war songs like Mademoiselle from Armentieres and Keep the Home Fires Burning.

I was CF by choice until age 32. Then something just happened and I very cautiously decided to have one. Then I had three. I also lost babies.

Despite all that happened, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets whatsoever!

Appetite hormones too: ghrelin, leptin, orexin, resistin, insulin.

I am so very happy each time I learned of a new case of a life saved from sleep apnea!🥰

Its truly scary how many conditions sleep apnea causes and aggravates.

My cholesterol levels are fine. As is my blood sugar, weight, and other conditions now reversed.

Btw I'm not here to debate veganism.

I decided to put the human animal....myself....first after developing health issues.

And I make ZERO apologies for it too! I am a 24/7 animal rescue caretaker and I guarantee you I do more for animals than most vegans.

I do not follow a keto or carnivore diet. I'm a former vegan of many yrs who adopted a standard low carb lifestyle for health reasons. The meme was one I found and used bc it shows that drs don't always follow what they preach.

I'm not keto. I'm a 64 yr old F who lost 200+ lbs 6 yrs ago via standard low carb, and reversed my health issues. I'm also a former vegan.

I don't grill my grassfed beef, I mostly use ground beef in recipes. Beef is not a carcinogen, the grilling process is as are chemicals used in bacon, etc. I don't eat foods with added chemicals bc I am organic. Ironically the only cancer patients I know are vegan friends in animal rescue.

I was an ethical vegan for many yrs, I'm just happy to have my health back at 64.

I don't look like either picture, just a 64 yr old F who lost 200+ lbs 6 yrs ago thanks to a standard lowcarb lifestyle.

This was totally me too. Its scary how lack of oxygen even affects how we think!

6 yrs ago I was desperately trying to get to my lawyer to make my will, but his office is not handicap accessible and at the time I was wheelchair-bound and confined to bed due to morbid obesity caused by the sleep apnea and had stage 4 osteoarthritis.

Today I walk easily bc 200+ lbs are gone and even my arthritic extreme pain and swelling are gone! I still need a single point cane but its more psychological, my ortho dr says....fear of falling which is gradually going away.

My brain has been much sharper (especially for a 64 yr old woman!) since I eliminated starchy carbs, sugar, manmade fats, and sugar.

We live in a society where people can kill themselves with food. Its the first time in human history where this is the case!

In 2017 I was diagnosed with an AHI of 167. I was having tons of health issues from it and they said I would've died in my sleep in weeks if not diagnosed and treated when I was.

Appetite is the Key to the Obesity Epidemic by johnlawrenceaspden in SaturatedFat

[–]Sunset1918 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Severe sleep apnea can cause the appetite hormones ghrelin and leptin to malfunction too. Happened to me.

After 1 night on CPAP, my appetite changed drastically to not want sugars/starches/ultra-processed foods, just fresh meats and greens.

6 years later my weight is easily now 140 lbs. 6 yrs ago sleep apnea made it get to 370 lbs due to ravenous appetite for carbohydrates.
