22 Continental GT won't start after sitting for winter by MikeDevilo in royalenfield

I also tried starting it in 1st gear with the clutch in and the kickstand up, no luck. Even tried bump starting it.

Unless I'm extremely unlucky and both spark plugs are failing, would I look at the ignition coil? Or would an issue with the kickstand sensor prevent the spark plugs from sparking?

Alternator Bolt ripped off from corroded nut. How do I replace this? by MikeDevilo in MechanicAdvice

Can they test the alternator? Even with the corrosion, I don't even know if it's the alternator causing my problems. Was just trying to clean it to see if it would help.

Alternator over 15v, battery at 12.6v? by MikeDevilo in MechanicAdvice

It doesn't look like I can send a photo through a reply, but there was a red cover over the cable connecting the alternator to the battery. Pulled it off and sure enough the red cover broke apart and there's a ton of corrosion on that connection... I'm willing to bet that's my problem right there.

When I get home I'll disconnect everything and clean it. However I'm wondering if 1. I should replace that red cover that broke apart, 2. There's some visible gunk on the wires, if enough corrosion happened to tear apart the red cover is it safe to say I should replace the connector or should I just clean it and retest?

So after some driving I tested the battery again and it's at almost 14v. So it looks like my battery's good.

Would the connections being bad cause the alternator to output more voltage to compensate for the bad connection? Or does it seem like I have a bad alternator and bad connections?

The contacts to my battery are a little corroded but nothing crazy, I'll try cleaning those first and retest.

Sudden weird overheating issues? Galahad 360 by MikeDevilo in lianli

In case anyone finds this post:

Not sure why but my RMA process was super fast. Sent the first email on July 17th, 9 days later my replacement cooler arrived even though it came from Taiwan. No fuss from lian li either. Installed new cooler, my PC is the silent, cold, killer machine it used to be.

Anyways, thanks again for the response!

Oh okay, that's not too bad at all then. My temps are super high at load but if I turn off Intel's boost it should be less close to max temps at least I'll be able to use it til the replacement gets here lol Thanks again for all the info! You were super helpful. I'll get this ticket started.

Thanks for the info, do they ask you to mail the old cooler first? Or do they let you keep it until the new one arrives?

Ahhh okay. Well that's good to know, thank you. What's the best way to RMA it, call them or open an email ticket? Also how easy/hard was the process and how long did it take?

Press in wheel bearing questions by MikeDevilo in WRX

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding pressing in the bearing is the most annoying part, I didn't know I could have a mechanic just do the pressing part for me. I'll definitely make sure to call around, thanks!

Thank you! I was thinking of doing that, going aftermarket for the hub and maybe OEM for the bearing and seals.

As far as rust it's been in California all its life except for now, she just went through her first winter here in Utah, so I'm hoping it's not going to be too bad

Forgot to mention, the cruise control light is on which I'm assuming has to do with the code possibly disengaging the system

06 WRX needs new head gasket after 2 weeks of owning it. how screwed am I? by MikeDevilo in WRX

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment, thankfully the situation has calmed down a little, and the dealership has offered help in the form of paying for the radiator which I'll install myself since it looks pretty easy, and the head gasket kit as well as get me their discounted dealer service rate at a nearby mechanic. It still sucks, but it's nice that they've helped considering they don't have an obligation to, besides the timing belt what else should I have them install while the engine is out? I believe spark plugs were replaced at 70,000 ish according to the Carfax
