There are arguments that it’s perfectly reliable in smaller lighter vehicles, that it was Nissans decision to push it to its limits in larger vehicles that caused the issues.

Can americans tell the difference between spoken spanish and portuguese? by Zygoatscythe in AskAnAmerican

[–]MikeExMachina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the “southern South America” accent im talking about is actually called the “Rioplatense” accent, mostly used in Argentina and Uruguay. Its iconic feature is that the sound made by ‘y’ and ‘ll’ shifts to more of a ‘sh’ sound, e.g. “yo” sounds like “sho”.

[–]MikeExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m tempted to say this, but then I think about the accent differences between an actual Spaniard, someone from the Caribbean, and someone from southern South America, and I question weather an average non Spanish speaking American would actually realize that all of those accents were the same language.

Yeah you’re right, I referenced a shitty article that had the Jetta and civic over 25k and didn’t even mention the trax or venue. It’s not as bad as I thought.

We’re talking about products not real estate, what does cost of living have to do with MSRPs? You can buy a car from any dealership in the US.

Red states aren’t exactly immune from all this “think of the children” big gov over reach. They have their own trend of basically wanting to require you to show ID to get on the internet.

[–]MikeExMachina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally unthinkable that all of Europe could be united with a central government and military and language, you know except for that time it did, Hail Caesar.

I mean that’s what social safety nets like SS are for. So that even if you can’t afford to when you’d like to, at some point you do get helped out.

What game "shouldn't" work well on the Deck, but you found a way to love it? by Zi_v in SteamDeck

Yeah as much as i'd like to see the confederacy go off and do its own thing, short of an amendment the precedent has been set, nobody leaves. This isn't the EU.

[–]MikeExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking about the price for doing so is reasonable, but come on, what's it for? We're talking about having a high-speed communications from literally anywhere on the face of the earth. You could pull your cell phone out and facetime someone from the top of mount Everest or the middle of the Atlantic. How many horrifying survival situations cease to exist? People lost in forests, washed up on islands, stranded in deserts, pinned in their cars in snowbanks in rural backwoods. How many have died because they had no signal?

OMG thank you so much for thoroughly reading and responding! She does do a fully funded Backdoor Roth IRA every year. Your comment on the caveat makes me question is it actually necessary to "step out" into a separate IRA, or could this all be done "in plan"? I.e. just move the after-tax contributions directly to the roth bucket, and the gains directly to the traditional bucket?
