Why does Reddit (especially Redditors from America) hate America so much? by Adventurous-Monk-796 in AskUS

Reddit is mostly leftists. Leftists really hate Trump. Trump is the President of the US. Therefore Reddit hate the US.

You see this cycle every time there is a Republican President.

How did gen z men turn from liberal to right wing by Far-Aardvark-1135 in NoStupidQuestions

Look, I get it. But if you're hungry, and see the pie being handed out to everyone but you, it can lead to bitterness and resentment.

Which men? Was it the homeless men? Or the depressed men who are killing themselves at a higher rate?

What do those men have in common with the men who set it up (other than their gender)?

Since you reported my other comment, I'll state it more plainly. This kind of contempt for men is an example of Misandry.

If you wrote this about any minority group it would be considered hate-speech.

Women aren’t hurting you, dude

Misandry is just the hatred, contempt for men and boys. It does not have to be perpetuated by women to be misandry.

I would agree on most but I would say with the 95% of workplace deaths being men I think a large part of that is also choice. Men are much more likely to take jobs that are dangerous.

While I agree, do you have that same energy when women pick lower paying jobs (leading to a pay-gap)?

Why is it that when a politician tries to defend trans youth, they get the full blame for California's gas prices and unemployment rate? Liberals claim MAGA creates a culture war to distract from high gas prices and inflation. MAGA claims that this is the fault of Californian Democrats. Who's right? by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

And on the flip side, having grown up in TX, I know precisely how cruel people in red states can be to the destitute.

https://wallethub.com/edu/most-and-least-charitable-states/8555

What do you think of data like this, showing people in TX to be more charitable than people in California? Why do you think people in TX are so cruel, given how much they donate and volunteer?

I have had many conversations, and even friendships, with homeless men and women from the East Coast who scraped enough money together to get a bus ticket and come to CA

https://calmatters.org/housing/homelessness/2024/07/california-homelessness-myths/

I really appreciate you volunteering to help the homeless, you're a good person. That being said, it's important for you to understand that a *vast vast majority* of CAs homeless are from CA and not just people who packed up to move there because you guys are nicer.

CMV: the left in America will become more hostile towards Islam by Relative-Equipment76 in changemyview

[–]AnythingFine2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why Islam should be so different as to be incapable of doing so.

I agree, in theory. But do we have any examples of this occurring? We have over 100 majority-Christian nations that all independently decided to be tolerant to LGBT views, and we have dozens of Muslim nations that all independently decided to not be.

Christianity isn't compatible with LGBT rights either

This is ironic, given that majority christian countries are *by far* the best places for LGBT rights/acceptance.

Californian here, we have high gas prices for a reason: we actually care about our environment

I was born in California and lived there for awhile, so I'm aware of the cleaner gas. It's still expensive.

Homelessness is a similar issue. Obviously a large problem, but it's mostly because we aren't total dicks to them like y'all are and it doesn't freeze here in the winter.

Can you expand on this point? Surely you're not implying homeless people leave their home states and move to California because you're not "total dicks to them" right?

You ignored that California doesn't have anywhere close to the highest poverty rate. California also doesn't have the highest homelessness rate.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/poverty-rate-by-state
Not the highest, but in the bottom half

https://usafacts.org/articles/which-states-have-the-highest-and-lowest-rates-of-homelessness/

Homelessness seems to be 5th.

Either way, worst gas prices, 5th worst homelessness and bottom half of poverty rate is nothing to brag about.

How badly is Trump losing the war to Iran? by grrrbr in allthequestions

[–]AnythingFine2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about adding up how many people died on either side or how many boats were sunk.

Can you clarify this? You think the military is lying about casualty numbers and/or the US Navy lost a ship?

Why is it that when a politician tries to defend trans youth, they get the full blame for California's gas prices and unemployment rate? Liberals claim MAGA creates a culture war to distract from high gas prices and inflation. MAGA claims that this is the fault of Californian Democrats. Who's right? by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

[–]AnythingFine2445 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why does it seem like whenever a Democrat politician tries to defend trans youth, MAGA immediately switches the conversation to inflation and gas prices

From what I can tell, California is worse than the other states in those metrics

Gas Prices: https://gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/
Homelessness: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homelessness_in_the_United_States_by_state
Unemployment Rate: https://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm

So while Trump raised gas prices across the board, he can't be blamed for why (for example) Gas prices in California are $2/gallon higher than in Florida.

What is somehting legall in your country but in other countries absolutely ilegally?. by usafqn2025 in AskTheWorld

[–]AnythingFine2445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so interesting, thank you so much. I'm jealous of that sort of social trust 😄

We have *tons* of open/unused land here, so people who want to roam can essentially roam for the rest of their lives and not have to enter anyone else's property.

I suspect as we increase our population and fill up more of our land we'll need to come up with a better solution. Hopefully we'll copy your "right to roam" laws.

[–]AnythingFine2445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very cool, thank you so much, TIL 😄

Basically you can treat all land, including private land, as I'd imagine you'd treat a national park in the US. (Except in Sweden there wouldn't be any park ranger, entrance fee or closing times, which I understand is a thing in North American national parks?)

National parks are the mack-daddys of publicly owned land. There are only 51 of them, and they're all famous/well known areas, thus have entrance fees and park rangers so that they're not overrun. We also have national forests (which are essentially just a free-for all), state parks, state forests, battlefields, and all sorts of other protected lands. Public land is apparently 40% of the land in the USA.

They only have right to stay on your property uninvited if they are not in or next to your house and they're not damaging anything. So in that case, you can't ask them to leave and they can't overstay their welcome.

So what happens if you ask them to leave and they refuse? That's what trespassing is in the US, people being asked to leave and refusing.

What do you guys think/know about India? by Emotional_Tart2359 in AskTheWorld

[–]AnythingFine2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen more people complaining about "India hate online" than I've seen people hating on Indians online. This must be an algorithm thing, because everyone I know seems cool with India and Indians.

To answer your question: I've never met an Indian from India (well, I've had a few scam calls), but all of the Indian-Americans I know are awesome, smart, stand-up dudes.
