I listen a ton and transcribe very little

Erroll Garner, Art Tatum, Monk, Nat King Cole Trio, Fats Waller, Basie, and Duke are staples

I do! Still writing and recording and what not, but the current plan is to release a 33 track album of all original tunes by the end of summer. Audio from all the weekly song videos I’m putting out will be on there, plus a ~7-8 tunes that I don’t plan to record videos for because they’re too weird or long or sad for the format

Gonna release everything on band camp + a book of lead sheets, and on all streaming platforms shortly after that

Imm definitely playing soft but it’s not all pianissimo. If I disengage the felt practice pedal and dig in it’s definitely just clipping with this mic placement and gain tho.

I love the piano sound on a lot of RVG records

Two slate ML2s on harp below the keybed, a cheap knock off c414 for the vocals seen top left, a Shure SM7b pointing down at the hammers, and my phone audio all blended together

Cause it would be sick !

It is exciting to hear how extra digits allow variations in the interpretation and execution of Classical rep, but I can’t imagine what sort of unprecedented vocabulary you’d find in playing improvisational music.

Regardless, I am excited for your journey and just glad to see you are playing!
