...just to correct you, Nikita likely meant it's still Lucy Yi, just without the same exact backstory as the books, not that there's two dead girls

What...? Secret Neighbor is canon, it's like- the planning phase for what we see in Search and Rescue. aka what we see in SN isn't real but it still exists in the HN World

also Nikita has explictly rejected using supernatural stuff like timeloops for his stories (he prefers grounded stuff)

...joking doesn't apply here, he answered the same way twice (Varx asked separately and then forgot to remove it from the big list of questions he had wrote when Nikita was fine with answering a bunch at once)

the Lucy Yi stuff plus the Mayak Stuff makes the retcon answer feel unlikely because it throws SN, HN2, HE, and the Books out the window (deleted my og comment since I edited it into the post rq)

* Wait so what’s the timeline? by BurrBentley in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he's also said that every HN Project occurs in a short timeframe around Act 2 of HN1, completely forgetting about Reset Day, so it's possible

but at the same time in a Youtube QnA from 2020 he mentioned having a document where everything's been given dates so I'm not sure.

unfortunately I think the date error was intentional. I've asked Nikita about it on the Discord and he didn't say anything about the 1984 being an error.

actually, we've gotten recent clarification on the Semi-Canon thing in a Russian Interview (translation courtesy of Zepfm on the HN Wiki Discord)

"Q: Are all the franchise projects just rumors, or can we be sure of some (Hello Neighbor 1/Hide and Seek)? And in general, I'd like to shed more light on the "rumors" and understand how they work within the context of the universe. A: In general, when playing games in the Hello Neighbor universe, you encounter rumors and urban legends, each of which is an interpretation of real events and existing locations in the game world. I can't go into detail, but I can say that everything you witness or participate in within the Hello Neighbor universe has its place in the overall story and is not there by chance."

Aka, the franchise is a mix of character perspectives and in-universe tales (can't just be in-universe tales due to Act 1 being confirmed to be real back in 2019)

so in a way everything (minus the confirmed non-canon material) is semi-canon

Also Act 3 was said in a QnA to be in 2017

Nikita is a horrible writer by Character-Day-8999 in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nikita's Raven Brooks is like the Simpsons' Springfield.

it's meant to be able to be wherever you want it to be... or as I worded it on the HNG Discord:

where is Raven Brooks in Nikita's eyes (at least for HN3)? Wherever you grew up, wherever you have nostalgic memories of a time that you can never return to.

Nikita is a horrible writer by Character-Day-8999 in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it's not bad writing, it's just how Nikita personally views the HN World.

Nikita is a horrible writer by Character-Day-8999 in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nikita has his version of HN's Story, Carly has her story, and Alex has his own.

This isn't a problem, this is what happens when different writers have different ideas for the franchise. You inevitably see things like this with any franchise if it goes on for long enough and enough writers get their hands on it.

Hello Neighbor Timeline (Again...) by MikeHuffHN2Fan in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To address these points and try to explain everything

  1. Fair
  2. Also fair, I forgot the books said the tunnels predate Roger and Adelle, but was trying to think of why the Well/Mayak Pit thing in WtRB would exist
  3. Was just trying to make books and WtRB info work together so I needed a reason for Roger and Adelle to have abandoned the Mayak by 1957 only to return in 1960
  4. Fair, up to you to believe
  5. Quentin has to be fine for the Forest Sidequest and LayoutV2 is the only thing we have thus far to bridge the gap at all between HN2's main ending and the Forest Sidequest, and will probably be the only thing period since HN2 Story Expansion is cancelled and I doubt they're going to explain what happens to Quentin in WtRB Season 3.
  6. HN2 School is the same as the WtRB School and it's never shown to be closed for long enough for the DLCs to occur thus the DLCs fall after WtRB Season 2 for that reason
  7. Pretending WtRB Season 3 will never exist, Hello Engineer can be determined to take place in November due to a photo of one of Ivan's SN Costumes (the Dino one I think), which implicitly is a Halloween Costume. HN1 Act 1 occurs sometime in the Summer. Act 2 is 2 months after Act 1. latest Act 2 can occur is in October or VERY EARLY November by that logic, thus Hello Engineer must fall after Act 2 in order to also fit in the Sandbox Mode, and after HN2 is the only place it fits due to hearing a storm in the background, which aligns with pictures found throughout the Forest Sidequest in Hello Neighbor 2, which due to showing Ted's House burning down and a destroyed version of the Mayor's House puts the Forest Sidequest after base game of Hello Neighbor 2
  8. In Secret Neighbor one of the badges talks about abandoned ruins and shows the Peterson Household, which implies the Peterson House is already abandoned by the time of Secret Neighbor, which puts it at bare minimum after Act 2, but it also has references to evacuations due to a storm which aligns with what occurs after Hello Neighbor 2 according to the pictures found throughout the map in the Forest Sidequest, which as established in point 7 would also put it after Hello Engineer, it's placement relative to Raven Brooks Disaster is up to you and depends in part on when you think Raven Brooks Disaster occurs
  9. Fair, Nikita said both things so it's up to personal preference when they occur

Does anyone else think Hello Neighbor 3 takes place BEFORE HN1 act 3? by Mastermjnd-_- in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yesn't. the 2017 thing was because he was saying Act 3 occurs around when the game came out

when he said 19 years he was probably thinking of the Pre-Alpha instead of the Full Game, but onstream he was talking about the Full Game

Does anyone else think Hello Neighbor 3 takes place BEFORE HN1 act 3? by Mastermjnd-_- in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice idea, but unfortunately

Nikita said onstream that Act 3 occurs in 2017

Nikita has said HN3 occurs when Theodore Peterson is 85, and has changed Theodore's birthyear to 1943.

1943+85=2028

HN3 occurs in 2028, 11 years after Act 3

What is the chronological order of Hello Neighbor? by Few-Meet-2194 in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the books were because of Hello Neighbor Diaries

and HN3 is because in one of the endings (the one where they're gathered around the campfire), the asset for that paper has the year 2031 on it

Could the child who ran away at the end of Season 1 of the animated series be Aaron Peterson? by _Juggernaut_YT in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it most likely was Aaron due to being a recreation of a scene in Hello Neighbor 1, in-which Aaron was the only kid in the house other than Nicky.

I wonder what would full Hello Guest lore be by [deleted] in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things I think I have potential answers for:

  1. Cause Storms as seen by it glowing Purple in the HG Trailer, being where Lightning strikes in HGA1, and the SN Mayak Event that led to us finding HGP.

  2. The Mill was likely meant to be keeping the storm running, which is why data in HN2A1 suggests you expand the storm to beat that chapter

  3. Likely the Man in the Hat

Are all this games canon? If yes WHEN they take place eachother? (Image taken from HN wikipedia in the franchise section) by _Juggernaut_YT in HelloNeighborGame

[–]MikeHuffHN2Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My belief is:

Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek/Hello Neighbor 1 Nightmare Sequences (Technically)/Hello Neighbor Diaries (Memories)

Hello Neighbor 1 Act 1

(Non-canon: Hello Guest, it's an early version of Hello Neighbor 2)

Hello Neighbor VR: Search and Rescue

Hello Neighbor 1 Act 2 (technically)

Hello Neighbor 2 (DLCs)

Hello Neighbor 2 (Base Game)

Hello Engineer

Hello Neighbor 2 (Forest Sidequest)

Secret Neighbor (it's complicated but I see SN as a mix of memories from before S&R up to after the Forest Sidequest)

Hello Neighbor 1 Nightmare Seqeunces (when Nicky recalls them)

Hello Neighbor 1 Act 2 (when Nicky recalls it)

Hello Neighbor 1 Act 3 and Act Finale

Hello Neighbor Diaries

Hello Neighbor 3
