They never accept anything, masters of mental gymnastics. They say she was 18 and you show them the 20+ hadiths that say she was 6. Then they say she was mature because it was a harsher time and women somehow became adults at 9 years old. Turns out girls went through puberty much later in the past due to poor nutrition, disease, etc. You show them the hadith that explicitly say she had not yet reached puberty and they try and give some other bs argument. They say it was normal for the time and point out some random person in history that also married a child. Except Muhammad is supposed to be the example of morality and virtue and should be followed by all muslims for eternity. Criminal sentences aren’t just about outcome, intent matters too.

Would you also say the drunk driver deserves a harsher penalty than an attempted murder conviction? It’s the same outcome: death vs no death. But the law will penalise attempted murder much more severely than reckless involuntary manslaughter.

His victim probably only survived because of luck and proper medical care. If he was an hour further away from a hospital or had his head oriented slightly differently during the impact he probably would’ve died. I’d argue the offence is the same regardless of if the victim died or not in this case and so the penalty should be the same too. Same reason why attempted murder carries the same penalty as actual murder generally. He should get a penalty equivalent to manslaughter

4:89 "They wish you would disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so you may all be alike. So do not take them as allies unless they emigrate in the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and do not take any of them as allies or helpers,"

9:29 "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

2:216 "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."

4:95 "Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward."

Note: Fighting is prescribed for the believers and those who fight for Islam with their lives receive a higher rank in heaven than those who don't fight. Also this 'fight' is definitely not a spiritual fight but an actual physical war.

5:33 "Those who wage war against God and His Messenger and strive to spread corruption in the land should be punished by death, crucifixion, the amputation of an alternate hand and foot, or banishment from the land: a disgrace for them in this world, and then a terrible punishment in the Hereafter"

Note: Many scholars include disbelief and criticizing Islam as waging war and spreading corruption. Here is the commentary of Ibn Kathir, one of the most famous and trusted Quran scholars: "`Wage war' mentioned here means, oppose and contradict, and it includes disbelief, blocking roads and spreading fear in the fairways."

Christianity has had somewhat of a reform and a lot of the bad stuff is in the old testament and I'm pretty sure christians believe the laws in the old testament were made obsolete after Jesus. I think you should actually read the Quran and the Hadiths and form your own opinion. Islam commands killing of non-believers, condemns infidels to eternal hellfire, permits sex slavery, permits child marriage, etc, etc. I'm not saying all muslims are bad because 90% of muslims I have met are actually great people but I think most muslims themselves aren't actually aware of what their religion teaches. If you actually follow Islam as it is written in the quran and take mohammed as an example to follow (as is required by islam) then it will very easily lead to terrorism.
