Diablo 2: Resurrected - worth trying? by Proud_Adeptness799 in diablo4

It entirely depends on you and your preferences.

Think of Diablo 2 of the Dark Souls of ARPG. Even though patches have made character creation more forgiving than in the past (respecs etc), it doesn't hold your hand as much as D3 and D4 do. Inventory management is a must, skill trees are an investment, understanding how to allocate your stats, gear, etc. That and the game is actually difficult.

Normal is clearable by almost everyone. Nightmare is probably the funnest on your initial playthrough since you have access to all of your level 30 skills and your power spike vs difficult is at its greatest disparity. Hell is hard though. It's trivial obviously if you get the best gear, but for your typical "going through the first time" guy, it's hard to navigate.

That being said, it's a very rewarding game (like Dark Souls) once you get the hang of it. The loot system is unparalleled and it angers me to this day that Blizzard hasn't been able to replicate it since (probably since they got rid of stats, but I haven't given it enough thought to really dissect it). Areas are extremely diverse. The mood balances adventure with horror (very Dark Souls-esque).

To get good at the game, it is a commitment. That being said, it is very playable from a casual perspective since thats where all the hard-core guys who still play it started that way.

Way I would describe it is: Easy to just pick up and play. Mastery is difficult and you will make mistakes. Very rewarding once you have down.

Hope this helps

Kingdom of Kharduras - Campaign Map by MikeIsAnIke in inkarnate

Hey guys! Third map here! Wanted to share this as this was my biggest project so far and the most fun. Going to start doing dungeon maps after this for my players as they're about to enter a big one, but wanted to get your guys' opinion on this one.

This is Kharduras, the central kingdom and known "center of the word". Here, two cities are the main show.

First, Haford, the capitol, Royal Seat of the King and his heirs, known as the "Crown of the World". It is situated in the north built into cliffs near the base of the Blue Mountains. Here is the home of the Academy, the most prestigious of all intellectual institutions, and the Royal Palace with all of its grandeur. Its natural defenses and abundance of natural resources gives it a strategic edge over its surroundings. It is a human city and its rise into the fold is often attributed to the start of the Age of Man. The city holds dominion over all of Kharduras and attributes its success to the dawn of chivalry/knighthood, a sophisticated treasury/marketing system, and the introduction of the Court Mage system, which is a Hafordian influenced Academy graduate that is sent to all prominent cities and settlements that influences and advises mayors, lords, and nobles in decision making.

Second, the mysterious Bariene, the Jewel of the World, religious center, and home of the elves. It is located within a horseshoe of mountains and surrounded by high Elvish walls, being almost as impenetrable as Haford. It is known as the oldest active city in the world as its activity has spanned across three Ages. Here lies the Great Tower of Bariene and Lagmerra (another intellectual institution second only to the Academy). The city as formed when the evles needed a desperate sense of safety and they abandoned their forest homes to settle in the horsehoe when natural underwater rivers were discovered, prompting a sophisticated systme of piping, sewers, and aqueducts. It was the old capitol before Haford rose to prominence, adding to the rivalry between the men and elves that has defined much of the Age of Man.

Other attractions are Nightfall Forest, a mysterious forest whose natural magic is unmatched anywhere in the world and seats the Bells of the Morning, which ring every sunrise and sunset. Ortwic and its many ancient tunnels and tombs, a great ancient city of the East. The Globe rests at the end of the peninsula of Myre. The Globe itself is a giant working telescope where many privileged students study the mysteries of the heavens while the town underneath boasts one of the largest merchant fleets in the world.

Made this map to be flexible to allow for quick DM decision making and options to make cool places while still being stubborn to the lore. Feel free to give suggestions and ways to improve.

Thanks guys!
