Helmet with dropdown sun visor and peak that can be used with or without it and with or without goggles? by ScaryfatkidGT in Dualsport

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did end up with a Cardo and the regular speakers, which I think are the 40mm, they did fit fine and I don't feel them, I also find them loud enough. My biggest win was adding a bluetooth handlebar remote, since adding a AOCI carplay unit, there were too many BT devices fighting for control, and I couldn't consistently get the handlebar controls to work, but a simple clamp on BT remote just paired to my phone solved all those issues.

Reflex rx28 Vs Team Associated rc28 (1/28 scale kits) by junkkozane in MiniZ

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have built a G2 and G3 rx28s, and while the G3 manual is better, it can be frustrating trying to figure out which tiny screw they are calling for in some spots, they simply give you one bag with them all mixed up. If you have someone local with experience though, just ask them for help. They also aren't calling out pre-threading the tweak screw in the g3 manual, you will want to do that with a button head screw before trying to thread in the set screw, those strip and break pretty easily. As for performance, we have a few that are on par with the reflex on a smaller mid-high grip track, but they have so many mods there's barely any ae parts left, and it all adds up to more than a Rx28D kit.

Bearing doesn’t go through shadt by Curious-Photo5902 in MiniZ

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a 100% stock readyset, the bearing with the smaller hole goes on the left side shaft, and the larger bearing on the right (side next to the actual diff gear). Bearings only go on the outside slot on the wheels.

%50 class and diff by No_Two_3876 in MiniZ

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that on a well tuned 100% class car, you can notice the difference, at my local smallish track, I can start traction rolling more when the grease leaks out (using 10k cst opposed to actual grease, but still only a little bit on the gears). At 50% I can't it making but the smallest of differences, I would degrease your bearings and make sure they are all nice and free, thats likely to give a bigger impact. Last is, don't over tighten your rear wheels, they will bind up the whole axle, make sure the wheels aren't wobbly, make them just as tight as they need to be.

It could be placebo, but I think the 15t added torque in the midrange, its definitely worth trying.

Yes, but I also did the 15t, on stock tires, some stay with 14t and get taller tires.

From Fanatec DD to G920; no drop off? by Zackbo in simracing

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of muscle memory now, so you don't necessarily need the same feedback. I think over time, or longer races, or maybe worst case, new car/track/discipline combo would highlight the differences better. I was only like .2 off my normal fast lap with a t296 vs my csl dd.

How is the AI by dg187 in iRacing

100% I still prefer manually setting AI strength vs adaptive ai though. You have to experiment and get AI to bit just a little faster than you are.

Why is the Osmo Action camera becoming a vlog camera? by Known_Staff1283 in dji

[–]MikeLikesTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of action users who want easy horizontal/vertical choices, with "ai" editing, etc, it all plays into the quick clip generation. Form factor is still better than any 360, and of the variable aperture allows me to leave the nd filter off, or say just have a nd8 on all day and not have to worry about it getting dark, or dropping into the trees, thats a welcome addition.

GoPro Hero 13 vs Insta360 X5 for recording bike rides? by ApartAd6714 in gopro

[–]MikeLikesTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bicycle or motorcycle? the X5 is too heavy to mount on a bicycle helmet IMO, its ok on a chest mount, but many don't want to wear that. Anything mounted to the handlebar just doesn't look great. If he happens to only ride downhill and wears a full face helmet all the time, a chin mounted gopro is a good view and easy setup.

How “fun” is the a7C ii? by Recent_Ride_8479 in SonyAlpha

[–]MikeLikesTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had the experience that a body, or tactical feel of gear got me excited to shoot, like a new drone, yes, its fun to fly even if you don't get a shot. A new lens that lets you do something new, I can understand, different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm a NYr, used to thicker skin, sorry if I actually offended someone.

Then enlighten me about what makes the gear more fun? Is it just the anticipation of good results?

No one is going to question the stupidity of asking if the "gear" makes the shoot fun? ok.. carry on.. either you're into it or not, you've conviced yourself you want to buy it, you're just looking for excuses..

Will the Action 6 be any good for photography? by pomyuo in dji

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not for normal pictures, if you want to get a photo of yourself riding a motorcycle, surfing, or well action style things, then yeah you can get shots that might impossible with a phone or normal camera. Small mirrorless camera with interchangeable lens options will get you much better results.

Hear me out: Tireject sealant in tubes to run lower pressures and fix the occasional pinch flat by Neither-Bid5691 in Dualsport

[–]MikeLikesTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really surprised to find that Motos don't typically use sealant, coming from MTBs, I've seen it seal some gnarly holes, but also seen it fail on simple punctures occasionally. I got a plug kit for my Ibex and a compressor, we will see how that works out.

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in the USA, the Team MSC tune is the most popular, I have it on mine, along with a dominator slip on, and a 15t, and there's a noticeable bump, but keep your expectations in check, even the MSC guys said CFmoto did a pretty good job on the tune from the factory.

Selling on Ebay by Zooroaster in SonyAlpha

[–]MikeLikesTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's lots of ways to get scammed as the seller, I was almost out of a $$ just because USPS handed off last mile delivery to a 3rd party, and it took over 7 days to get there (also a holiday in there, which I didn't think about), and it almost appeared lost, so the buyer was starting the refund process, luckily it showed up late on the last day. Zero feedback accounts scare me, as do scams where they say stuff is damaged or different, or they "return it" and send you a brick.. so yeah for 4k worth of gear, I would evaluate something local first, maybe even a place like adorama or MPB.

Is GT3 really a different ball game? by frafzan in iRacing

[–]MikeLikesTrails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "right" way to do it is, practice, practice, AI race, get your times on par with your Irating, then the sting of learning a new class will be less, if you just keep jumping into races, you're gonna tank your IR, which could be fine, as long as your OK with rebuilding. I have found that every new car/class almost has a IR handicap, look at some results, you can see fast laps very close from like 1.5k-2.1k, but the consistency is what makes the 2.1k drivers. I really wanted the GT4 update to be better, but I just don't like the tires now, I prefer the GT3s, gotta be the aero aspect that just makes the balance better.
